  • The brothers with my 2006 buck.
2 weeks and counting until our anual snow goose hunting trip and I am excited. I have been busting tail lately making decoys, gathering all the gear, and trying to plan our trip. I am the guy in the group that plans the trip, gets everything together, makes the call on where and when to go. Everyone else gets a free ride! It sounds like I get the shaft, but in all reality I love it! We are leaving on th 17th and I hope our drive time to get to birds will be minimal. Last year we left from St. Cloud and ended up in southern Nebraska (thanks to some great advice from Snow - Thank you!) We were in the tick of things. I hope to be in South Dakota this year. By the end of next week mother nature should show her cards. Is anyone else loosing sleep yet!?!?
Find a bird Duke... find a bird... ROOSTER!!! BANG! Bring it here boy. GOOD BOY DUKE, GOOD BOY!!!

Not losing any sleep just yet, with gas prices up I'll make the most of when and where I go this year, ruled out MO and Nebraska this year even tho they are pouring in as I type right now,SoDak is my 1st trip most likely early april for starters.

You guyz should load up on what goose loads you can find asap, pickins are slim and any new stuff will be up in price big time.

How many flats of shells should a person bring to shoot snows?
Take a kid hunting and fishing... It'll be the best thing for generations to come.

Red,you never know,on the other hand you can never have to much ammo,I usually travel with 3 flats of 12ga (100 rounds per flat of hevi shot,10 shells per box) so 300 rds there, and another 2 flats of 10ga. hevi shot (200 rounds) and just incase a couple flats of older steel loads if we run outof the good stuff, seems my buddies always run low~ Its always possible you'll have triple digit days shooting spring snows,so never just plan on shooting a couple boxes per day unless your shooting a o/u,then maybe, our benellis hold 10 rounds with magizine extentions and they cut'em up.

You must getting in on some good shooting. When we went and hired a guide we only shot about 3/4 to 1 box of shells a piece between the 2 of us and shot 17 geese.
