I'm going to miss the ice season of 2010-2011.  I personally feel cheated by mother nature.  Early ice was ruined with snow.  The rain saved the year for the cities but northern Minnesota was a bust.  Snow, slush, and more snow.  I will be ready for open water but the hard water season is not over yet!!   I hope there is only a couple of weeks  in between the two. ;D   You have to love the ice out early spring crappies.  :dancinred:

I haven't experienced that this year. I have been getting out a lot this year.
And I'll still be ice fish'in till the end. I'll even take the duck boat out just to get on the ice. (I don't recommend this for everyone)

You take the boat...across open water....to the ice....push it up on the ice with a push pole...and walk on the iceberg to your fishing spot...  ;D

FireRanger and I put on the waders late last year to keep fishing.  The ice pack had pulled away from shore and the water was about 2.5 feet deep.  Had to break a thin layer of ice to climb on but the fishing was tremendous.  Oh, and we did wear our life jackets all day as well.
Take a kid hunting and fishing... It'll be the best thing for generations to come.

Very common up in my parts, you drag the boat around with ya. Works a lot better then dropping a 2x10 from the shore to the ice and then come back and find out that the ice has floated a 1/4 mile from shore.
