Well, this day started out like any other. We had chores to do in the morning, then mama wanted us to go to town to pick up some plants with her. As we were walking behind her in the garden center, he asked me "What are we gonna do later?" I asked him if he was up for some river fishing. (He has never river fished before) And was up for the adventure. When we got back from town, we helped mama unload all the vegatable and flower plants into our garden cart. Got her potting soil and a few other things ready for her, then started getting the river boat ready. As we were getting all the gear packed, he was asking all kind'sa questions...."What kinda fish we gonna catch?" "What do we use for bait?" "What river?" "How do we catch fish on the river?"...and the list goes on... I answered 'em, as he kept throw'in um out there. When we finally got to the landing, I noticed the river was still high. And the trail I normally drive down was covered with water. Course now...he asked "What we gonna do now?" I told him..."We're go'in for it! His eyes got real big when I started pushing water with the front bumper of the truck. But we made it through to the other side just fine...Then we parked and started to unload the stuff. He was kinda wondering if I had lost a few marbles by this time, so, I told him I had to do it before, and knew it would be fine. Once we were in the boat, I fire her up and headed up river. Passing all kind'sa wildlife as we motored up, ducks, deer, bald eagles, night hawks, herons ect. Once I picked a good spot on a bend, I tied us up to a maple tree that had bent over the river. Then started to rig our rods with Lindy rigs and crawlers, expaining how to fish um and what to do if ya get a bite. He nodded his head in understanding, and patiently watched his rod tip. Soon he had a whack on his line, he fed it some line, then waited for another tug, then set the hook. The rod doubled over as he set it, and the drag started to scream! He hooked into someth'in BIG! For the next 8 to 10 minutes, he was laughing so hard, then telling me his arm hurt, then went back to laughing.... When he finally got this thing to surface, I saw it for the fisrt time...It was a 4 foot sturgeon....SWEET!

Anaway, after that all the other fish we caught, could not compare. And, he, couldn't stop taking about "The one that didn't get away"  :happy1:
