Mother Nature had a lot to say about the fishing on Lake of the Woods this week.  Winds of up to 50 mph turned the Big Traverse basin into mud.  Some were still able to find fish near the gaps and along Pine Island where the cleaner water was pushing through from the Rainy River.  Bigger fish were a little harder to find this week with most of them hiding in the murky water.  The water is starting to clean up and anglers were finding some success out deeper and amongst the islands on the north end of the basin.  Drifting with spinners along shores and sandbars seemed to produce the best fishing.

Our charter boats continue to do well.  Our experienced guides definitely have a knack for finding the fish and coming up with the right presentation.  The guests, that are booking charters, are definitely going home happy.

There looks to be less wind this week with chance of showers off and on.  The water should clean up and I would expect more big fish to be caught on the deeper water.

FISH ON!
