Yes, we are trying to design a workable ice challenge.  We are just in the planning stages so all input is appreciated.

One more idea.  We keep it the same as the summer with one change.  We have a panfish section that would replace the bass.  It could be a Sunfish, Crappie, or perch only.   Everything else would be the same.  We would only need to set the minimum lengths that would make them a legal fish.  I would think we could set the panfish at 8 inches.  That is a nice sunny or perch.  Definately do able for anyone.   What say you all?

Now I have read all the post, DDS is right this should be the same as the summer with one change to add  one Sunfish, Crappie, or perch only. so it would be 4 fish,
Walleye pike bass and ???? this way we can keep the same rules. We would set a size limit to the add fish. By add one fish this still will keep it simple.

As to one person posting two fish that will not work because you still are going to have people sign up and not post fish this will stop people like me from sign up.as if my team mates do not post them I can't fill out!! and here why I think this!!! north Minnesota mite have good ice and down south my be bad ice we can not predicted the weather and my team mates mite live wear the ice is bad!!

As to a tie the first one keep the high score like the summer. as to add a Eelpout I think you should have a that in the Eelpout contest and in the pout form.

Now this is just my input.. I all so think there should be a ice smack down thread.  ;D

The bass would be replaced by the panfish.  So only 3 scores.  No spearing and no bass.  I agree that ice and snow conditions vary so anyone can post.  No limit.  Tie breaker is the first one to post the score wins.  I think we should give it a try.  MNO staple item will need to be in the pic.  Where it is caught does not matter.

I agree with the No spearing as to no bass   as i all think the summer challenge should have a pan fish and this is why I think this. As some do not bass fish and some do not pan fish this will give more people a chance to try to do more on open and hard water. As bass close sooner and pan fish dose not close and this will give a good twist to the challenge. As to judge one more fish is not that much harder.

Where it is caught does not matter. As DDS said. As long as it is open and meet all laws of the state you are fishing in.

Hold on there HD.  You are not getting out of it.  With this goverment shutdown we do not have the staff or manpower to train a new set of judges.  The extensive classes and eye exams could not be completed by the beginning of the ice season.  So I truely hope you will do your civic duty and carry on as one of the judges.  (as you know the kick backs are great  :rotflmao:)

Do we still have to send HD the lake name, type of lure, time of day, water temp, way point and bait used for each fish caught?? Cause I'm tired of him catching all my fish and I'm running outta secret spots!! ;D

I think if you want to have this Ice Challenge to really have some pop! You should add a degree of difficulty to it. Say anything caught on ten inches or more of ice is at it face value length. Five inches of ice would be twice the length and four inches of ice would be three times the value till you got to one inch of ice where the length would be ten times face value. Sure would weed out some of the elpout anglers... :coffee:

See BB you are wanting to make it unsafe for people that would go on 1" of ice  just to win  as there are some that may try this just to get more points
