Just a little demo for those that would like to snell your own crawler harnesses and spinners.  I did these with dental floss so you could see the steps easier.  I like this system because you do not have to have a separate piece of line.  you can tie this directly to the terminal end of your line.  Multiple hooks are easy too.

I like to use flourocarbon.  I will just tie a barrel swivel at the top.  You can also just tie a loop knot and then connect it to your line with a snap swivel.

Wow very nice and informative, I have just been trying my luck at tying some crappie jigs, some good and some bad so far, but I brought a few up to a buddies cabin last weekend for a field trial, although I only tried them for about 5 minutes, I ended up catching a rock bass with pink jig with white marabou and Gulp Alive!.

Can you do a demo on how to make a spinner? I have some 14lb flourocarbon laying around and would like to try and tie some harnesses and spinners.

There is nothing like catching fish on your own stuff.  Be carefull, it can become an obsession.  I will post a demo on spinner making soon.  I am so busy right now making jigs and I have a deadline coming up.  As soon as I get that done I will try to do a short video on spinners.  It is very simple and fun to do.

I know what you mean, it gave me a pretty big rush when i felt that first tug on the line. I found a big wing feather from a red-tailed hawk that I plan on using for some flu flu's. I'll post some pictures when I get around to tying them.

I know you had some concern on the 47's.  They are designed for walleye and pike.  The smaller ones like you got are great for deep water crappie bites. Finicky mid or late winter  panfish through the ice can be tough.   Give them a chance this year early ice.  They also work in open water.  Guess what lure Wildlife took the 31 inch walleye on. ;)

they still have a spot in my box along with everything else only reason id throw away a ice jig is because its broken

me and my buddys catch our fair share or 25+ nords on rods during the season will have to throw down a 47 next time

if we dont get a bite within 30 seconds we know its a nord

As this will allow your hook point to be up and not down you will have less of a chance of snagging the bottom, your bait will look natural.

This last photo is a store bought. Now This has to be one of the best not as all co/ use it.

My gram-pa show me this year ago  :happy1:

Looks great Wildlife.  I like easy.  I also don't like trying to find where I left my cheeters (glasses).  I did not need them until the last two years so I don't always have them with me.   Nice job on the pics.   :happy1:

Why should you know this particular snell knot method?  I'm sure this  has never happened to anyone else.  ;) ;) The fish are biting and your partner volunteers to unhook your fish for you.  What you end up with is a broken or bent hook on your harness.   The nice thing about a snell is you do not need to thread the line through the hook eye.  With this style knot you can cut off the defective hook and tie on a new one faster than digging out another spinner rig.  I have done this several times.  It is a good skill to practice  just in case you need it

I made a video.  Once you have mastered the knots this will show you how to finish.
