I want to hear some opinions on either a Benelli Super Nova or a Remington 887.

i got the benelli nova and i have fired 2 3/4 and 3 1/2 and it didant jam and cycled niceley but the only diference between the nova and the super nova is the super nova is a tad bit softer on your shoulder but not worth the price increase for it

Benelli hands down.

#1. Built as well as the 870 Express in my book.
#2. Easy to disassemble and clean.  I can tear mine completely down in less than 1 minute.
#3. Smooth, cycles fast, and will shoot everything in a shotgun shell under the sun.
#4. A great price for a great pump gun.

And before you know it, you'll add a Super Black Eagle 2 to compliment it!!!!

i have shot  both, and i prefer the benelli, yes it is a bit more spendy but you get what you pay for. the 887 i just didnt like how it felt and shouldered. its all about what you expect from the gun really and i expect my shotgun to perform for multiple different use's and shell size and shell loads from 2 3/4 light trap to 3 1/2 BBB and to perform in all weather conditions....

One thing I do recommend is that you shoulder the gun with your eyes closed.  See where your cheek lands on the stock and where you eyes are in relationship to the rib or top of the barrel.  If the gun doesn't fit or feel comfortable, leave it on the shelf.

another idea would be to see if you can find one of each and shoot it first. like red said it's all about fit and what your comfortable with. personally for a pump I love my browning (BPS).

Mossberg 835 Ulti-mag.  Is good a quality as the others, less expensive, and American made.  Shoots 2 3/4, 3, and 3 1/2.  Flawless accuracy and performance.  Accessories are a lot less expensive also.

I agree. It shoots everything you feed it and handles good also.

from my experience with the nova, the thing is a tank. if its gonna sit in a blind with you its ok but if your gonna carry it or hold it, it will get heavy. not an upland gun by any means. so if your gonna use it for duck hunting from a blind its ok. but if you want an all around gun you dont want to cary this thing for other game birds.
my wife said it.... im OFFICIALLY ADDICTED to MNO!!

Not to mention every Nova I have ever had my hands on is loose and loud. Sounds like a ten piece band walking through the woods. Buy yourself a Browning BPS if you want a pump.

forgot I even posted this. Bought a 887 and really like it. Tried the nova but thought it was really rattley.  I did consider the BPS. Now i'm looking for a slug barrel for the 887.

Be careful with those first run  887's when you depress the release and slide the fore end back you will smash your own finger if you do not get it away from the front of the trigger guard.
Those two prongs on the fore end really make the gun look nice though.

That is what I was going to say. My brother has one and I got my finger the first time I was checking out. I told him to take a dremel tool and cut those two prongs off.
