I'm not sure how a scratcher fits in with ice fishing, but I've always thought a scratcher was a baseball player who gets caught on TV scratching himself.

On another note, it wouldn't be such a bad thing to have a few of these Ice Scatchers around the busy lakes early in the season. I bet it could be quite a rescue unit during thin ice times

There is something on the market that is very similar. It is the Wilcraft. Same idea. The thing floats as well. I was by their shop yesterday and they are selling like hot cakes!
