I went out last night but it was the night the neighbors shoot guns.  From 5:30 till dark I counted 572 rifle shots.  They were a half mile away but it still was loud.  Today it was a beautiful morning in the stand.  Rain stopped just as it got light.  This is what I saw (hint, don't look too hard for the deer).

Hunting is not life and death. It is more important than that.

I would agree on the deer sightings.  I'm guessing they are hunkered down near the oak trees and simply don't have to go far for food.  They can live within a 50 yard circle.  Twice last week my son watched a deer feed on acorns around his stand for an hour and a half.  Deer just don't have to move much to live in this time of plenty.

sounds the same in my woods. a few night pics during this full moon and i watched 2 small bucks feed on acorns in a 100' area for 2 hours. i ended up chasing them away because i wasnt gonna sit in my stand till midnight. i dont think they are moving far from the food right now. and if they are its in the bright light of the moon.

why is it the rifle season is always accompanied by a full moon anyways? should be picking up i think as a new moon appears, it cools off and the rut kicks in!!!! :rocker;

stevejedlenski the gun season is 16 days long so we have a very good chance to have a full moon during this time.   My cameras show the vast majority of activity a night.  Things will change in a couple weeks.  They always do.

Last night (Tuesday) I went to this stand.  What you see is what I saw.

True but for my area it's only 9 days and that has fallen on the peak of the full moon.  :cry: I'm hoping to get one next weekend and not have to buy a rifle tag!
