At 7:10 this morning I shot a doe and instead of running the trail she was on, she bolted straight out in a cattail swamp.  Before I was able to locate her, I was soaked from the knees down.  It didn't matter after that so I just slogged through and pulled her out.  It took me an hour or so and then I went back up in my stand.  I took off my boots and wrung out my socks.  I had to put mittens on the metal floor to stand on because the metal was cold on my bare feet.  Ten minutes later a fork buck came by but got my wind and blew out of there.   After a while I just put on my wet socks and boots.  The sun was now out and I was able to hunt until well after 10:00.

***I started out with nothing, and I still have most of it.***
