I just spoke with the people up in Zippel Bay and their last report on the ice was from this morning.  There is 7-9 inches in the bays and 4-5 on the main lake.  It was -8 last night, so they made alot of ice and are expecting a few more colder days before the weekend rolls around.  If the forecasters are right, there will be about a 10-12 of ice in the bays up there by the weekend.
It sounds like if everything goes they way its planned with the weather, the resorts will be fishing by this weekend.  Weather for the next few days looks like (high/low)
Today - 21/16
Tomo - 22/6
Thurs - 10/-1
Friday - 10/6
Sat. - 28/17
Sun. - 26/16

Its time to get the 2011/2012 season started.  There is already a group of spear houses out on 4mile bay, so for some, the season has started!!!   :happy1:

Sounds like the ice if coming along nice around Pine Island.  Seems like 8" is the least amount of ice on the lake, places in the bays have nearly a foot.  Looks like all the resorts are starting to pull out their houses, some are starting today, and others are going to wait until Sunday or Monday.  I have heard several reports and the fishing has been great - lots of quick limits.
There are some roads flagged off for ATVs, even with the cold days, the ice is looking nice, but still use caution, obviously some spots arent as thick as others and the lake doesnt freeze uniformly this early in the season.
Sounds like the a majority of places, the 2011/2012 season has started.  I am headed up tomorrow, ill let you guys know how things are when I get back on Tuesday!   :fishing2:
