They won't and it's sad.  He'll pay a fine, looks his privileges for 3 years, and he won't change.
Take a kid hunting and fishing... It'll be the best thing for generations to come.

Last I read the shooter was not charged.  That's all the story said, no details.

i think your wrong.. this isn't a "deer" per-say as much as it is "livestock"... so it's only poaching in the sense that he used his deer tag with it, this will fall under other laws not controled by the dnr. the fool showed pictures to his buddy's of him with the deer and his bow.. moron. not like this fool will ever have the cash to reimburse the owners but in a small town like that he'll forever judged and probably reminded of it daily.
If science fiction has taught me anything, it's that you can never have enough guns and ammo when the zombies come back to life... "WS"

beeker, I'm sure you are correct, it is livestock.  The DNR is involved because during the process of stealing the deer, he let 14 other deer escape the fence.

"Whoever did this was definitely looking for a trophy," the owner said. Fourteen other deer escaped through the hole in the fence that night, but 12 returned for food. Two bucks are still missing.

The idiot might not have the money to repay him but, he will have a felony on his record for life. It was a means of supporting the guys family. Big money involved.
