After a day of cleaning up after the holiday, I decided to hit a small area lake to catch a few fish.
I was fishing in 26 feet of water using one of DDS's jigs tipped with a wax worm. I did well jigging 6 feet off of the bottom catching crappies. Not monsters, just good eaters..........

Hunting is not life and death. It is more important than that.

Welp, me and the boy went out to the same lake, in the same spot and did well.
The fish were stacked from 14 feet down to 23 feet, all suspended.
Ice was about 10 inches, but, not very good ice, I wouldn't even drive my wheeler on this stuff!
So, we walked (good exercise anyway)
Afterwards, we cleaned them up, and had a fish fry....dang they was good!  :chef:

With the colder weather finally getting here, the fish were not on the same patterns.
My son and me drilled 40 to 50 holes all around the deep hole in a small lake.
Only to find one or two fish suspended, not grouped up.
We hole hopped from hole to hole, only catching 5 keepers...but, we had a blast!

Went out this last weekend with my brother in-law on a lake by Alex.  We spent one afternoon catching some wheres over 75 of these and only keeping what you see for a meal that evening.  The smallest perch caught was 10inches and the largest 12 inches.  I also managed to catch 3 stupid Northern, one of which I put in the challenge.  I ended up going back to the house to pick up the kids and they each caught 14 of the big perch.  We went through a tub of wax worms and 2 scoops of crappie minnows.  I picked up some gulp and let me tell you it does not out fish live bait.  With a wax worm or minnow the line went down and the line came up and it was just that fast.  Gulp did catch some but you sure had to work at it.

I had the same problem, I figured I would buy a can of Gulp for $4, i figure i would stay better than waxies.... and as you said, they said it out fishes live bait!  I think I used maybe 2 or 3 of the gulp wax worm things, and said screw it and went back to using waxies - they just didnt work for me either!
Those are some nice perch  :happy1: .... a little smaller than the ones I was catching last year at the MNO GTG, but still nice, none the less!   :rotflmao:

We went out to a different lake, and got a few in the bucket. It was a little slow between bites (but, we were trying out new electronics) Afterwards, I gave a seminar on how to filet fish...and the student is catching on nicely!

I and the family went out fishing this afternoon in the big house.  The kids pounded the perch until they got tired of fishing.  The CP ended up catching the big fish of the night with a 22 inch Northern.  No crappies this evening in the new spot.  We ended up watching the game and cooking some venison on the stove for supper.

With a New Moon and a incoming storm I decided to hit my metro crappie hotspot last night and this morning with great success. Multiple 13" slabs landed, including a double with a 12.5 and 13.5" at the same time. Also landed a 24" pike and a 16" bass on a tipup.  And on top of that I got my personal best 14" White crappie! Big fish with great friends makes for a very fun weekend.
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day.  Teach him how to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

I fished a different lake today, 15 feet of water next to a weed bed drop off.
Jigging with a small swedish pimple and wax worms. I only fished for a few hours
and got enough for a fish fry.....

Yesterday, we got out for a few hours.
Lotsa hole hopping, and a nice day to do it!

We ended up with a few more than the pic shows (but, the memory card was full, so I couldn't take another) I guess it's time to either delete some, or print um off...  :rotflmao:

Yesterday we met up with Icebanger on a local lake.
There was suppose to be a fishing contest that we were going to attend.
But, as you can tell from the pictures, it was flipp'in cold out!
So, the contest will be held today, and we are getting ready to go as I type this...

Here are the pics from yesterday....
One to big to keep, and one in the slot.

Welp, we hit the ice again today with Icebanger for the contest.
I didn't like the ice conditions yesterday, so we drove the wheeler today with the trailer on.
We got there before the contest started and set-up. We watched as the folks next to us had flag after flag, catching a few here and there. We moved around from different holes trying to catch one. The boy did ice 2 fish, and had one break a leader that we never did get to see.
He ended up in 4th place, just out of the money with a 26 incher. And a 34 incher won all the cash. It was a great time anyway, being on the ice with a friend! The only pic of banger I got, was him checking his tip-up....  ;D
