Get away from the crowds, sharp breaklines, inside turnes.  50/50 with set lines and jigging.  gold swedish pimples.  plain red or gold hook.  minnow heads for eyes and perch, euro larve and waxies for tullibies.  we caught the eyes halfway down the breakline,  perch and tulibies were 20 yards off of the breaklines.  we caught the most fish between 10 and 2.  hope this helps.  post your results.

27 fow was the ticket

did minnow size matter at all? big minnows producing more then the small ones or vice versa? smaller swedish pimple? i appreciate(sp) the help. were you using a flasher? i was reading on one report that the eyes would bull rush the jig but stop just short and go back down or they would be biting real light were they wouldnt even have the bait all the way in there mouth resulting in alot of missed fish. thanks

We were useing fat heads and biger rainbows.  Used the biger swedish pimple tipped with a minnow head.  I was agrasivly pumping the bottom 3-4 times and lifting it up 3 feet off of the bottom and giving it a gentle 3-6 inch bobbing and the eyes would come in and just pound it.  Yes we were using flashers.  only had a few eyes show up and not bite.  I did catch 2 lake shiners while fishing off of the reef for tullies that were used on a tip up and the were hit 5 min. each after being put down.  lost one and the other was 24 incher.

I used a small sunfish jig with eurolarve for the tullies.  GOLD

well this mornings outting didnt produce any fish.  we went out of garrison sports. couldnt seem to find water deeper then 23-24 fow. tryed everything, with not one bite. had a hard time even marking fish. i think we only marked 3 fish. i drilled probably 45 holes. went in for a break around 10am. had a nap and lunch now we back in the same area, because we were told the night bite in this area has been real good
 hopin for some action.

Well, here's an updated report from 2/21/12.  Fishing's slowed down some but, some nice eyes were still accessible.

well my weekend was fun/adventurous BUT we did not catch a single fish. drilled around 150 holes, walked over 4 miles of ice that we have never covered before fished from 32 FOW all the way down to 11 FOW, couldnt mark fish most of the time, even when we did they wouldnt bite. threw everything at them. probably the worst outting on mille lacs ive had before, but still was better then sitting at home.

I had a buddy that was up over the weekend and he had the best time ever.  Caught a dozen keeper perch from 10 to 13 inches(pic to prove it).  14 eyes and 20 tullies,  biggest eye was 25.5
He was on eight mile flat.

Unless you get free locators from Hummingbird you may want to be a little more careful taking the transducer out of the hole.  The first fish he caught in the video could very well have been the end of that transducer.   :doah:
