Since it was so nice out, I went for a walk out in the woods just to poke around. I checked the perms, and they are still standing. I did find a clip of shells my daughter left in hers....kids...  :doah:

I walked quite a few deer trails looking for sheds, but, came up empty. Lot's of brown M&M's, but, no bone.

Some turkey feathers, squirrels and crows, is about all I saw. The snow is very little, with the exception of the shaded side of the hay field. Other than that, it was great to take a walk! Kinda strange for mid March and 60 degree weather, so, get out and enjoy it!

i went out for a walk on thursday afternoon and it was gorgeous out. lots of droppings and trails, but no antlers. not really any pictures on the camera either  . but was cool to hear there has been a cougar spotted a few different times in the area, tracks have been confirmed. this is in the west metro. victoria area. i didnt have any protection, so i stayed away from that part of the woods, kinda puts you on edge.

Letz its hormonal...after the rut is done and all the bucks does are bred, hormonal levels drop and the horns fall off and a new set grows.  Most years this happens in January,  but I have seen 2 bucks with complete sets in April.  Apparently they were still breeding does.  I had asked a big game biologist and this was his reasons.

a deer with a horn wouldn't shed it ever, since horns are life long.

antlers on the other hand...

ok.. just messing with you.  happy b-day by the way
