More and More Tick borne diseases in Minnesota, a friend that works in the ER in Park Rapids now sees Tick diseases as the number one problem.  There is Lyme's disease, Anaplasmosis ( where your blood count drops like pre leukemia, and another called Babisosis.  None of these diseases were present in Minnesota 30 years ago.  I remember seeing the first Lyme's disease in Minneapolis in the early 80's.  I have a buddy a big time grouse hunter that has had all three from tick bites in Minnesota.
So How to not get any of these....First I wear Bug skinz which is a uberthin long underwear that is tight at ankles, wrist and neck...havent gotten a tick stuck on me since I started wearing them.  Got them at Cabela's.  Second if out turkey hunting, morel picking, checking your deer stands or enjoying spring...spray tick relepellent on legs before pants, then on pants, strip down after in the woods and take a shower.  If a deer tick is stuck  get some doxycline from your MD.  Woodticks carry the anaplasmosis and babisosis..not a bad idea with any stuck tick to take the doxy.
