The North Dakota Game and Fish Department is offering a number of events as part of its Becoming an Outdoors-Woman program through 2012.



The workshops begin with Hike the Maah Daah Hey Trail offered June 15 through 17 south of Medora. The workshop is intended for women in good physical condition with previous packbacking skills. Cost is $30 and participants must supply their own personal equipment.

The annual summer outdoor sports workshop will be held Aug. 10 through 12 at Lake Metigoshe State Park near Bottineau. The workshop covers archery, firearms, fly-fishing and several other outdoor skills. Cost is $135 and covers meals, lodging and use of equipment.

Another general skills workshop is scheduled for Sept. 21 through 23 at Turtle River State Park. Skills covered include mountain biking, wild game cooking, fly-fishing, nature journaling and archery. Cost is $135 and includes meals, lodging and use of equipment.

Women interest in waterfowl hunting are encouraged to attend a workshop Oct. 6 and 7 at Bismarck. The workshop covers firearm safety, shotgun shooting and waterfowl identification, among other skills. Costs are $20 with the participant required to provide a current hunting license and equipment.

A bow hunting for women workshop is scheduled for Oct. 24 through 28 at Lake Metigoshe State Park near Bottineau. The workshop is intended for women with little or no archery experience. Costs and required equipment will be determined at a later date.

All Becoming an Outdoors-Woman workshops are intended for women 18-years or older wanting to learn more about outdoor skills. More information is available at the North Dakota Game and Fish Department website at gf.nd.gov or by calling 701-328-6312.
