with the direction their walking we were at their 10 o'clock working on a stand..  the killer is I have no idea how they got to that spot  and how they got out? there is no public land right there without walking through a ton of swamp and they don't look wet. no tire tracks on that road.. makes no sense

Maybe it was a good thing you didn't surprize them when they were there.  Any sign the entered your shack?  Did you hear and shots?  I know it just bothers a guy when you know someone was illegally hunting your property.

I would print out a couple of pict and give them to your local cop and co.  Its likely that these guys have trespassed before and will do it again. If your place does get vandelized or broken into they will be the first to be looked at. You might also want to talk to your neighbors and see if they know the people.
Anything that is free is worth saving up for.

we have a new full time farmer next door.. so next time up i'm gonna give him a little visit. wish I new what he drank/if he drank would bring him a bottle/case of his choice.

i'm gonna look up the CO right now and forward the picture.. used to have it in my old phone but it didn't get transfered.

i also checked the surrounding plots with the county to see if by chance they bought the neighbors land to the north.. thought maybe they were the new kids and just wandered too far? I don't know.. don't want to be a d**K unless it's called for.

Probably no need to come bearing gifts but a visit is certianly in order.  If you bring gifts and then ask him to watch your place, he may feel pressured to watch your place.  Just ask some leading questions and let him dictate where the conversation goes.  Once you get a feel for the guy who knows, he may be just as interested in keeping the place safe as you are.  Once you have a few visits and get to know him, and he mentions things regarding your property, then you can think about some beverage offering.   :drinking:

Ignoring no trespassing signs?  It couldn't happen.   No one would do that.   Were the signs too high?  Where they too far apart?  Was the wind blowing enough that the blaze orange lettering could not clearly be seen?  Given the height of the victims falsely accused of trespassing  some new laws may need to be written.   Were they dated this year? Signed appropriately?   :taz: :taz:  Good luck.   :banghead: :banghead:  Not all trespassers will break into your place.  Some of them have standards and are only ok with breaking one law only because they got caught and are victims.  It would be like calling someone that only killed one person a murderer.   :whistling: :whistling:

It wouldn't matter if the signs were tore down or lost, if it was legaly posted at any time it remains posted.

I just had this conversation with Travis M, the CO for Ham Lake. He said if it was posted it is still considred posted and they can tag people for traspass even if they are there retrieving a dead game animal.

He said there was a case just last year in Lino Lakes where all the postings were tore down, a person entered the property to retrieve a deer but was caught by the land owner.
Travis had to tag the guy for traspass.

seems to of been brought to my attention that today my cousin busted a guy attempting to poach a deer in the neighbors corn feild. he shot and missed at a decent 8 pointer. they arent for sure yet, but they way he acted when he spotted her, was strange. pretty much turned tail and beelined it to his car. unfortunatly for him, my cousin also take pictures when shes in stand so she got the whole thing on camera.

lentz.. contrary to popular belief you do not have legal right to chase/recover game that ran onto posted property. the only thing you can legally chase onto posted property is your dog and you must do so un-armed. there was a murder case a few years back where a girl dissapeared from anight club in brainerd. the grandparents of the suspect wouldn't let the state search the grounds.. but a neighbor let a friend walk his cadaver dog on his property who happened to jump the fence and allerted on a spot. they found the girl and convicted the grandson.

now it would be a d**k move for me to say no you can't pick up your dead deer/bird/squirrel and I wouldn't stop someone from doing so.. just would like a courtesy call so I know whats going on. and if i'm around I wouldn't mind helping if needed.

The CO has the call on who keeps the game, but if the land owner doesn't want the shooter to have it the CO can confenscate it and turn it over to the state for food shelf or to be destroyed. If the land owner wants it they usualy get it though.

It is not often the land owners want to keep the game and will agree to the CO and shooter retrieving it. The land ownes are more concerned with their safety and privacy.

it was definatly saturday.. as you can see on the camera i'm too lazy to set the time and date.. but my nepheww was only up on saturday and the pic right before was of him fartin around down there.

update on the DNR.. they called me back. asked a few questions and said they would make a few more patrol loops through there. I knew there wasn't much they could do/would do.. but he didn't make me feel like a tattle tail for calling.

The CO's take trespassing very seriously, they would rather find them before a PO'ed land owner with a quick trigger finger:)
