Although it's not the biggest 10 point around, it was his first bow kill ever.  Actually, it was the first time he ever shot an arrow at a deer.  I was hunting near him last night when he came walking up to my stand at 5:30 with a big grin on his face.  He had been watching two bucks.  The 10 point was the first to offer a shot.   He said he saw the arrow (with lumenock) fly directly into the bucks shoulder.  We started looking for blood around 6 pm.  We quickly found the arrow which had one broken blade and blood about 1 foot up the shaft.  After loosing the blood trail a few times, I suddenly saw the buck about 20 feet in front of me.  He was still alive but didn't look to good.   I backed out and  marked the spot (probably 50 yards from where it was shot).  The next time we approached the buck, it was dead.  180 pounds.

Very nice!     you gotta love those luminoks.  Have any trail cam pics of the buck?

dakids,
Not sure about a trail cam pix but maybe it's the one in the picture I posted about Does and Bucks together.  The two bucks were traveling together and didn't indicate any rut activity.  Thanks to you and the experience we had with your use of Luminoks, both Chris and I are sold on them.  While target shooting it's not too difficult to track an arrow however, in a hunting situation with trees, branches, bushes, leaves adrenaline and generally poor light, it's almost impossible to follow an arrow flight.  Chris was able to watch the arrow and see exactally where it hit the deer. Being it hit the shoulder and only penetrated 12 inches, he could see the lighted nock as the deer turned and ran away.
I also had and experience with it yesterday morning.  I shot a doe at 30 yards  and was able to see the arrows flight directly into the middle of her chest. I absolutely knew this deer was dead, but there was no blood trail.  Even after finding the deer and backtracking, there was absolutely no blood anywhere.  Because clearly saw the impact point (and pass through) I knew we would find her.

Great story. Congratulations to both of you.
Please excuse the dumb question but, luminoks is a lighted arrow that allows you to see the path the arrow takes and thus helps you to know if you hit a vital area with your shot?

Nothing changes with the arrow.  You simply swap out a standard nock (the thingy that holds the arrow on the bow string) with one that lights up when you shoot.  You can turn them off after shooting them.

very nice deer congrats to your son! and he looks to be atleast a 3.5-4.5 year old. so hes mature.

i love lumenoks, i bought some this year and they are incredible. what they are is pretty much a light up bobber light, when th string is released it pushes the light down(turning it on)

For those of you that fish.  Luminoks use the same batterie and light that is used in the lighted bobber.

Hunting is not life and death. It is more important than that.
