I think thats a cool and unique idea, or if it was added into the deer hunting contest for extra points or as a sub contest within the hunting contest.

i think it would be very hard to have a contest for lack of numbers, but maybe just some prizes for people that are able to film a hunt during the hunting contest? maybe im wrong but how many people would try this? and of them not many would be successful.

i think it would be really cool to see this happen.
my wife said it.... im OFFICIALLY ADDICTED to MNO!!

Not an easy task self filming. I did it through most of archery season. Got some does, fawns, young bucks, and caught two 2.5 year old 8's sparring in September. Once the rut started kicking in I left it at home. Very hard to film and shoot when they're running around. Most times I get one chance to shoot that time of year, and would be extremely hard to get them in frame and get a shot. Wish I had a cameraman November 4th. Saw alot of action. Chasing, grunting, snort wheezing, posturing, making rubs, and a crazy fight which after they separated I was able to grunt one in and shoot. Probably never see that again.

I love the idea. i am hoping to film some next year. please post if this gets set up. What do people use for cameras. just the standard video camera or is there a huge difference to a "Campbell Camera " type of camera.

I like the idea and would love to see some self filmed hunts. However, I don't think I'm up for it.  It takes a lot to get a decent film.  Lighting, distance, obstructions, wind etc can be big obstacles.  Also, there is a limit on how much "stuff" a guy can have in a stand. Range finder - check, binos - check, calls - check, camera - check, bow - damn I knew I forgot something. :rotflmao:

Filmed this with a Panasonic hdc-sd 90. Making a mount for my climber and ladder stands. Tighten it down on my shooting rail so the cam is right in front of me. Found it hard to find and stay on deer with a tree mount to the side of me. Easier to aim when you can look right down the cam straight.

Another tip. If you shoot HD you'll need a powerful computer for editing and rendering your vid. Fast processor and alot of memory. Or it will take hours to do simple editing.

Hunting is not life and death. It is more important than that.

I have more hunting clips, but need a computer upgrade before I even try to edit and render them.
