MNO Burntside Challenge!!

   If the Greatoutdoors could give up a weekend date that does not coincide with the Eelpout festival,  Mr. Wildlife and I would like to head up to Burntside and set a couple MNO  Lake trout records.  All we need is a date.  If Great is game we will pay him for his time but he has to fish with us.  The ice is off to a crummy start around here.  GO should be able to put us on fish.  Our job will be to show him how to catch them.   Anyone that would like to attend the MNO Laker Shoot Out is welcome.  We just need to hear if the 2X Borgie Beatdown champion has recovered enough  from the last one to go head to head with the 2011 MNO FISHING CHALLENGE DREAM TEAM---"The Avengers"  If GO is game we can start making plans now.  I don't think Borgie should come.       Bobby Bass should.  It's not that far and the wife may need a break.    Lee is as always more than welcome as long as he has the Leech Lake fillet knife on his person and willing to lose it.    If the GO is game say the word and we will start making the arrangements.

The only MNO record you two will set is being the first forum members either bold or stupid enough, to face the King of Burntside, Mr. TGO on his home turf!(heavy on the Mr.)

   Right now I know that Wild and I can not go The weekend of Feb.  15-17th.  That is the Eelpout weekend.  We may be able to talk Fawkinnae and a couple of others to tag along.  I am thinking later in January if you think the ice will be decent.  .  It sure would be easier if we could drive our vehicles out?  I have a couple Friday classes coming up so I will have to check those on Monday to see what weekends those are.  Then it is game on.

     Any other MNOer's that might like to go chase some Lakers with us sign up here.  We need to go teach Greatoudoors how it's done.

once I am done with Christmas order i all in....  I will get with DDS and work a day out, are we talk a day trip? Saturday or a Sunday work best but Monday a may be,

The season outside of the Bdub starts January 12th. 
It's best to stay away that weekend since all the amateurs are out.  A monday will work well, so let's try for that once the ice is strong enough for a vehicle to drive on. It shouldn't be any problem for snow machines or possibly ATV's if there isn't much snow.
The best time for lakers is from about 8-noon, or a bit later.
However, I do not think there is ever going to be a good enough bite for DDS to catch anything!!

My Polaris Ranger is Red and has bigger tracks, as you will see after you get thumped in the Trout-O-Rama on Burntside,  and your tears have dried from the crushing defeat!

MNO Breaking News..........This Just in........Burntside Challenge gaining national attention!

It seems that the news media is starting to line up to bring full coverage of the Burntside Challenge. Word on the street is that folks will be lining up to see if greatoutdoors can come up with a repeat of the time he sunk his popemobile in Burntside Lake. Will he be able to repeat once again?

   There will be video coverage as well as    s.  I think we can post a firm date on Monday.  Wildlife and I will be leaving from the "The Lake of No Fish".  It's just under a 3 hr drive.  I will be fishing the dead sea and trying to wrap up the MNO/IFC of 2012 that weekend.  Anyone interested in turning The Greatoudoors into a pinata can either meet us there or head up to the Lake of No Fish for a weekend of fishing.  We may stay one night in Ely for two days of fishing.  That's all up in the air for right now.  The one thing that is for sure is it will be  Game On!!!

Why don't you and Borgie (the person The Legion of Doom ran roughshod over) take a week and tour Minnesota in the winter.
Since you and I are constantly being dissed for not entering the winter challenge, we'll climb into the Ranger, head out to some top secret spot, and totally destroy the rest of the "participants" in the Trout-O-Rama fish off!
Let's hold the contest whenever we can come up with a date convenient for all in late January, February, or March. (weekend or weekdays, Mondays are good-less people on the lake)

    You are more than welcome to meet us at the "Lake of No Fish" for the weekend.  Depending on the weather at the time we will be heading out from there early that Monday morning.  I plan on fishing Sat. pm  and Sunday am and pm at the dead sea.  It's a lake very similar to Burntside.  Not a quantity lake but always a slight chance at a real winner.  I figure if GO can catch a fish or two every couple of years in Burntside. We should be able to fish the lake out in a Morning.

  I probably should have  asked sooner.  Is January one of the 2 months of the year that the Greatoudoors is open?

  The reason I ask is after a 7 hr driving day today, I was met by a closed sign.  It was only 3.5 hrs each way.  When I got there it looked like the clean up from the last Borgie Beatdown had not even started.  There were still hazmat teams there.  I have not seen a massacre site like that since the seals went down two years ago.  Of course GO and BB took the shots because what the General lacks in fishing skills he makes up for in speed.  Especially when he hits the    retreat gear.     

    I know BB will be hiding behind  the bailiff when  the Avengers come to town to take Burntside by force.   It would be fun to send Borgie in first but  The Avengers like to kick a kitten once in a while too.
