Went out on Christmas day, as well as yesterday.  One Christmas, me and a friend went to bald eagle to try to find some panfish, no luck, just a few small perch and a lot of hole jumping.  It was my first time out this year - so I didn't mind - it was just nice to get up there.
YESTERDAY however, I tried Lake Gervais in Little Canada for some panifish and crappies, I had never been out there, so I was just trying the drop offs since they are all across the shores.  I fished from 8am-5pm, caught a few small perch during the day (SLOOOWWW) and then about 3pm, the walleyes (YES, WALLEYES) were biting.  I ended up catching 3, all on a fathead minnows, two were 17" and one was a fat 19".  Unexpected and very exciting.  There are a lot of pike, muskies and bass in that lake - so I just assumed they were all northerns biting, but NOPE!
Next time I go out, I will still be in the hunt for panfish, they are supposed to be abundant, and as much as I like walleyes, I like the no-stop action of panfish.

:bs:
There are no walleyes in that Eagle lake. Better than average bass smaller than average but numerous crappies a good population of carp and bowfin some really good muskie but walleyes are an anomally.
