For several days local TV and Radio stations along with the paper have been telling people to stay away from this area but.... Hope it cost them a pretty penny to get out.  :bonk:

I for one feel bad for this guy and know it could happen to any one of us Ice fisherman since the ice is never totally safe.  I'm guessing the guy didn't know or hear this area as being unsafe.  If he did....... stupid is as stupid does, but I'm not going to jump to conclusions.  Besides the tow out, it's a Ford so it should just start right up and the guy will be on his way.  Shouldn't be but a couple hundred bucks.

Witness estimates it will be $3000 bucks.........they either need a new witness or find a new estimate.  By watching those other pictures on the forum with 1 tow truck and a couple big planks and 4 hours time I can't imagine $3000, but I have never had to have it done thankfully.  Now if it was way down at the bottom and a dive team, crane, etc., then I'd say $3000 might be an average.

It's a ford so it will turn into rust powder if it is not out in a couple of days.   :mysterymachine:

We cut a truck out of the ice from Lake Mitchell in Big Lake a number of years ago.  Truck went in nose first and sat in the ice for just over 30 days.  Two towing companies, a skid loader, and planks wasn't cheap.  Our bill to the guy alone was $5500 and the DNR fined him as well.
Take a kid hunting and fishing... It'll be the best thing for generations to come.
