Everything went up a few bucks. I you do a lot of hunting you may be looking at 20-40 extra dollars in licenses this year.

Just more wasteful spending by an already obese government.  They could hire me for 6 figures and i could cut enough things to make the price of hunting licenses go down with money left over to do other things.

i actually dont have a problem with this. i knew it was coming. plus how cheap is it to actually buy a license in this state compared to the other states. i think we ranked somewhere around 35-36. so pretty cheap. besides whats 5 bucks anymore? its not even 2 gallons of gas..

Very true Cody.  But why not get rid of the $1000 hammers first?

I get where your coming from. We certainly are not the highest, but with what you have said here, 14 or 15 other states manage to keep there licenses cheaper than ours. I think know that we need to look at those states and figure out how they are running their programs for less than we are running ours. Of course the answer is so simple, exactly what the General is talking about. If you cut out unnecessary and in most cases down right reckless spending they could run the entire department more efficiently and for far less money. We don't need a $250,000 wildlife biologist, manager, engineer, or whatever title they want to give them for every field mouse and grasshopper in the state.

Id start with the boat washing stations and how much did we waste on those stickers.  Then I'd start cutting the Latin America bird habitat Minnesota tax payers are paying for.  There are thousands of these things out there.  But no lets not be responsible government politicians and just raise some more taxes.

How about the $230,000 given to the u of m to study how to get the homeless to stop smoking?  How many more do you want to see before you decide hey maybe if we just spent the money wisely we wouldn't need to constantly raise fees and taxes?

We need those big titles for the government so they all feel special. They get paid the the same as these big CEO's that get these a big bonus for what. While the ones that help them get those goals for that bonus get what, another attaboy.

what they need to do is jack up the prices for non resident license like south dakota and iowa

WI non resident tags are now cheaper than MN tags. So why jack up the price? And bonus tags are another $165 in MN? WI herd control bonus permits are $2!! Not sure there is much to complain about for WI NR fees...

I reject the arguement to raise fees on non residents. A fish is a fish regardless of who catches it. A non resident may visit for a weekend and get out on the water with his buddies for what maybe four hours if the weather is good?
 The dnr sells paper worth $22.00 each to over a million anglers a year which brings the state and it's general fund at least $22,000,000.00 that is million dollars in revenue annually. In deer hunting license sales alone which average 465,000 that adds another $13,950,000.00 in revenue. On what and where can they spend that much? The arguements as to cheap entertainment do not hold a candle to anything in my books.

And as long as I am wound up why in this day of electronic everything is a fishing license bought on Feb. 28th good for one day? You would think any Conservation officer could decipher a calendar year.

Not according to their website. You pay $160 for a NR WI archery tag, you can shoot 2 deer in certain units for that cost, because they automatically issue a bonus tag for free.

If a NR buys a MN archery tag, it now costs $165. If they want a bonus doe tag, its another $165.

WI= $160 for 2 deer

MN=$330 for 2 deer.

From the WI DNR web page...

Nonresident Hunting, Deer
Type   $   DNR   Agents & Phone   Buy Online   Delivery Method
Gun Deer   160.00
Gun Deer (10 - 11 years old)   7.00
Student Gun Deer   24.00
Military Gun Deer [more information]   24.00
Archery   160.00
Archery (10 - 11 years old)   7.00
Military Archery [more information]   24.00
Antlerless Herd Control Tag   2.00
Antlerless Deer Carcass Tag (Unit specific)   20.00
Antlerless Deer Carcass Tag (10 - 11 years old) (Unit specific)   5.00
Military Anterless Bonus [more information]   12.00
Park access deer hunting permit (more information)   3.00

Again, I am not sure there is much to complain about for WI NR hunting. You can spend less money in WI and shoot 2 bucks, one with bow and one with the gun, plus the bonus tags for less than 2 deer in MN.
