I see you guys have a countdown to the 2013 opener.  Is there a period of time where the lakes are closed?  Is this all water or just public water?

I was curious, because in Indiana we can fish year round...with a few exceptions of places that hold trout or are stocked with trout.

Panfish are year round.  Our walleye pike season goes from the 2nd week of May to the end of Feb.  Bass and Musky each have there own starting dates.  Lake trout have a separate season also.    You can get the MN DNR fishing regulations online.  We have a lot of them.   :bonk:

I figured that Minnesota was a little more strict than Indiana considering the difference in species available.  I'm guessing it is a good idea to have the regulations book with you to make sure you aren't catching something you shouldn't.

The only issue is you can use the same techniques to catch the fish that are out of season and the fish that are in season.  ie, Pike v. Bass, and Pike v. Muskies.  So its important that if you catch those fish that are out of season to release them RIGHT AWAY!  Otherwise you can get into trouble for fishing out of season.
Since you have no say on what is actually going to bite your hook.   :fishing2:
