Fishing continues to be excellent! All parts of the lake ice free as of earlier this week. Trophy walleyes still being produced from both the Rainy River and the lake. 5-12 feet over sand and rubble or 20-25 feet of water. Jig and a frozen shiner is the go to method. Colors are gold/pink/chartreuse. Great numbers of eaters as well as slot fish. Some success with crank baits in front of Pine Island as well.
The water on the Rainy is in the low 40's. 5-17 feet of water on the Rainy and Four Mile Bay.
Up at the NW Angle. Jig and a minnow, work the line slowly in 14-32 feet. Limits being caught in half a day or less! Big walleyes caught also. Even some lake trout reported.
