    • Fishing & Hunting South Dakota's Lake Oahe and Lake Sharpe
It is getting challenging to come up with bigger over 15 inch fish and up as the summer progress's on Oahe. Many days you catch 75 fish but most of them are under 15. As a guide I am always looking for numbers of fish and normally do not target just big fish so most of my catches reflect that. Many day's we are coming in with some nice stringers fishing this way but there are also a lot of days we have a whole bunch of eaters. I guided repeat customers Max Nordeen Tom Nordeen and his son from NE and Wyoming for three days all on Oahe and we caught a lot of fish with them taking home around 80 walleye, bass and a big Northern. We threw in a lot of the smaller walleye in after lunch each day to get them to their possession limits. I have guided this family for many years to some great catches and sure would have liked to see them catch a few more big ones but we all had a great time and I look forward to the next trip with them. We fished from 5 fow to 45 fow looking for the bigger fish and seemed to catch under 15 inch fish everywhere. We used crawlers and Berkeley gulp worms and minnows on bottom bouncers and we also pulled spinners on bouncers. The best numbers depth was probably around 17 to 20 fow. Lake Sharpe continues to put out numbers of fish mostly on the breaks in around 20 fow and crawlers/gulp are doing the best. The over 15 inch regulation is now off for the next 2 month's on Sharpe so if you want you can keep some of those just under 15 inchers now. Fishing on both lakes is excellent for numbers but getting big fish is harder.
