Looks like the molt is finally over, early this morning while out walking the pup in a nearby field I seen the 1st sign of fall, not only are some tree species turning color but small family goose broods took to the air,one group was buzzin a unharvested wheat field where some sandhills were feeding, the geese wanted in bad and buzzed the cranes 3times like they were on a bombing run, each time lower and lower but never put the landing gear down.

Fun to watch, great time of year.

What kind of setup cody? field or water? don't forget the skeeter juice...I don't get excited until she cools down some, however I've been stocking up the ammo supply all summer, shooting just enough to keep my eyes sharp, broke in the new shotgun last april on snow geese so its ready, dog is ready to rumble as well.

we are gonna be in a hay field, with the thermacell. I haven't shot at all this summer, ill be going to practice on Friday. I wont be putting out more then a dozen decoys because I haven't seen flocks of more then 8-10, so theres not reason to put out all 5 dozen or even 2 dozen. I still have goose loads from last year to use.

i have access to a wheat field and it looks just about ready to cut, but I never know when hes gonna do it. the marsh I hunt is bottomless so I don't mess with that until duck season cause its a real pain in the rear. im hoping to have atleast a few birds in the bag on saturday
