    • Fishing & Hunting South Dakota's Lake Oahe and Lake Sharpe
I have been hunting more than fishing so I haven't posted reports for a while and for the rest of the year will probably just do a few more. I spent opening weekend hunting some good friends of mine from the Grand Prairie, Texas area. Cary, Pat, Chris and James spent two days shooting birds getting full possession limits and we all had a great time renewing some old friendships along with the bird hunting. I then spent time guiding Wes Coats and his friend Curt from down around Liberty Kansas to some fishing and bird hunting getting limits of birds along with some walleye. The Pheasant hunting around Pierre is off this year on public land due to lower bird numbers and a late crop harvest however hunting on private land is still very good with limits the norm. There are very few Geese in the area and no one is really hunting them. I will report if that changes. Fishing on Sharpe has been much harder due to the large amount of rain/bad weather making Sharpe real muddy east of Pierre.I look for this bite to improve if weather improves and the river cleans up. Oahe is good some days and tougher some days making me call the bite spotty. Walleye /Bass are coming from 20 fow to 35 fow for the most part and minnow/jig or minnows/bouncers the bait of choice. If you can get chubs they are very good. The fish being caught look healthy and size is improving overall.
