I like to refer to Roosevelt as the lake of no fish.  As soon as that South side is froze up I will be on it.   How often do you pass by there Glenn?

Stopped in there about a month ago and was disappointed with the service.  We got there at 5:05 and they said the grill closed at 5:00 and we couldn't even get a burger.  Ended up getting a frozen pizza that the guy burned.  I will never stop there again.  Who closes the grill at 5 on a Saturday.  Isn't that dinner time?

I have been to Grannys Bar quite a few times - its been for sale for a while, they were looking to sell it.  Its pretty slow most nights.  We would head up for opening fishing and go there at night - they have poker tournaments on Saturday (I think), so that brings a crowd.
Pretty calm in there usually.  I love the place though.

I fished Roosevelt last winter, caught 3 nice walleyes off the right side of the hump on the south end of the lake.  We would also catch some crappies and sunfish at the top of the hump during the day.
Anyways, this turned into a Roosevelt lake thread not, ICE CONDITIONS, haha.  But its usually pretty late to get ice though, I may be headed up there again this winter to try for some more walleyes.  If you can find them, they are BIIIGGG!

When you go into town from the south take a right before you cross the bridge.  1/10 of a mile will bring you to the Village Inn.  That's where you go to eat in Outing.  Good food and can be real fun on Friday and Sat. eves.

Been hearing most of the lakes a bit north of the metro have between 3-5 inches of nice ice.  Anyone been hitting the lakes around the cities.  The ice is forming well with the cold temps and no snow.
It looks like the weather will be a little warmer for a few days this week, but I think ice season is officially under way.
Anyone have any current reports?!

I was out on Lake Darling north of Minot today. 12" of ice. Got about 10 perch. Air temp. was -10 and my heater was only running half power, so I didn't stay out too long. You know it's too cold for ice fishing when your beer turns to slush before it's half drank.  :cold:

Went out around Hibbing today. Had about 4-5" of clear ice, then 2" of frozen slush on top. Crappies were biting hard. For the other fishermen...

Bald Eagle in the cities has about 7-8inches of ice in the areas we checked, but its about 3-4 inches of good ice, and then another 3-4" of white/cloudy ice on top from the snow, rain.  No snow on the lake.
Lake Gervias in Little Canada had another 7" of good clear ice, however the fish weren't cooperating on either lake.  Ice is coming nice around the cities, with this cold weather, I can assume people will be driving out there next weekend.   Ill take another 2wks til I take the truck out.

Out today on Demontreville and there was 11-12" in the area I fished, there was a guy taking his permanent out with his Toyota Tacoma, I thought it was a little premature, but to each their own.  Ice is coming along nice though - its a smaller lake, but a 12" before Christmas is impressive.
Heard there was a guy pulling out a permanent on Bald Eagle, but stayed in the bay, so the main lake isn't thick enough yet.  It was 8" this weekend, so I would assume its 10 or 11 by now.

I drive past buffalo lake a lot lately and there are a lot of full sized trucks driving out there. more shacks added daily and looks like a huge party home is set up out there. There are still a lot of timid folks parking on the road and walking out though

Guys are driving out on WBL and other metro lakes, some reports are up to 16" in some spots, but im still hearing 10-11" in others.  I wont be driving out til after Christmas (that's just me personally).  My spots are close enough where I can have a short walk.
