Didn't not get on the lake till 11 AM but that did not matter, the bait shop in blackduck said 8ft has been good, fishing's been OK. Well we were just before that cold front that moved in an fishing was outstanding for us, cant remember ever having this kind of action. Anywhere.
Had the holes drilled in 14 ft of water about a 1 mile out from shore. with in ten minuets after pounding the bottom with a red rattling flyer it started an didn't stop. We always had fish on the flasher  an only had about a 40 minuet low where we may have only caught two fish. But it was constant with a fish every 10 to 15 minuets, an sometimes doubles, the vex was contanly light up with fish an bait fish moving thru periodically. they pretty much smacked it every time, always aggressive, bobbers an red hook produce about 20 percent an sometime we'd catch one an set again an before the bobber stop fished falling whamo! another. When eating you had to literally stop looking at the flasher, it'd drive us nuts digging out food an fish on the flasher.
The worst part was when we were put back 17 inch fish an got picky to get the 19's it seemed so wrong but so right at the same time, almost painfull to watch a 17 go back when it seems like ya struggle for bucket fish on LOW. well over 50-60 fish caught by 5 pm when we decide to pull the plug an head home with 17-to 19.5 for the two of us. Unbelievable!
