I'm looking for opinions from you guys about your thoughts/feelings about skylights in your fish house.  I see that ice castle has them in several models.  My concern is sweating, condensation, and leaks..   like them or not I want to know

Thanks

I think they are very nice.  However over time I've heard the same bad things you have and I don't believe I would be paying extra for them.

I have one in mine.  It was great for the first couple of years.  Now it is leaking pretty severely.  The roof is going to have to come off to fix it.  I have not figured out how to even get at it.  Quite a bit of damage was done during the summer when it started leaking.  I put a tarp over it last summer.  I will never have another one.

To be brutally honest skylights will leak no matter where they are if they are in a home or a shanty. You most likely will not ever see the damage done to the structure. Water will find places to go that are usually hidden. For the money invested in your property the scale dips far below with the detriment than the benefit. The good thing is you can tell when it is has snowed because they are covered up.

That is the last item I would ever want in a fish house. Several of the ones I now that have them, have had nothing but issues with dripping, condensation, leaking, etc. The least amount of holes through the roof is better. On RV Campers, they are a constant problem for leaks and ruin more roofs than they are worth.
