I was called this morning from the lake with a fresh report.

Jigglestick, Dave O and Dan were up to the big pond yesterday and fished 7 miles out of Hillmans, they said they were between Hillmans and Agassiz road, but closer to Hillmans. 23" of ice, 10 Crappies and a couple of slot Walleyes were caught by the 3.

I believe all the Crappies were caught between 4pm and 9pm.

Today they are on Winnie, check the Winnie forum for a new update.

anybody considering heading to red lake and is it worth while?
GO!

DaveO, myself and my bro-inlaw Dan went up thursday for a day trip.
we stopped and said hi to shorty and got our minnows and road pass and then headed out to the lake.
we met Buddy at the bridge he just got done re-arranging and it was good to go.
we went out to our old stomping grounds 6 miles out and got outside of the group of houses away from the rouge plow trucks and gunfire ;D
we found 13 feet of water and a nice snowbank to set up in.
it felt good to be back on the lake once again.
we caught a nice slot walleye and had a toast.
caught another one and sent it back (to big).
had another toast 8)

we hadnt seen Russ for a while so we decided a cross country trek was in order. heading across the ice was no problem. we found our way to the group of ice castles and found the old ice hermit himself hunkered inside waiting the arival of his next guests.
good to see the old fart.
we bummed a few beers off of him (customary) and shot the bs with him for an hour or so.
after getting back to the house we caught our first  OF TEN NICE CRAPPIES!!

We decided to cut a hole in the floor to watch the fish.

This what we had to show for our efforts.
I have t tell you, I have never been so happy to catch ten crappies in one house.
though i think I only caught three myself, after the butt whipping we took last year it was damn nice.

the ice measured 23 inches where we had the house set. it was good all over, just stay out of the rough ice areas as they are drifted with snow  and you could get hung up tretty easy.
no problem weaving and driving around these areas.

GOOD LUCK!!
take a kid hunting and fishing!!

THWACK KILLS!!
