I saw this on the MN DNR website today. What you think of this ( do you agree or disagree with the DNR findings)?

Here is a list of the best walleye producing lakes.

Cass, Kabetogama, Lake of the woods, Leech, Mille Lacs, Pepin, Rainy, Red, Vermilion, Winnibigoshish.

Any others that should be on the lists?

I am sure they have certain criteria they use to measure what they would call a TOP walleye lake.

I would think the walleye population would have to be on top of the list.
also accessability, and the ability to produce walleyes to anglers.
say if a lake was loaded with walleyes but was very difficult to access or difficult to fish for any reason, it would not make the list.
they would look at how it reproduces naturaly and how it responds to stocking.
fishing pressure may be figured in somehow too.

every one has their own favorite walleye lakes, but I bet at least a few of these lakes are on everyoes list.

I would put Minnewaska up there too, at least around 12-15.

I'm not so sure that Leech should be there nowadays. Walleye fishing has generally sucked there for the past 3 years or so. hopefully it will make a comeback.

Laker, with the stocking that they've done on Leech the past couple of years and the culling of the cormorants that they've done, Leech is going to make a huge comeback.   ;D
