2014 MNO Fishing Challenge Smackdown-enter at your own risk:)

[The General]

 The boy and i were out on the lake today catching 17 inch eyes and 23 to 26 inch northerns.  We kept the eyes and the boy wanted to play with the pike in the live well.  One of the best parts of the day was watching him trying to catch the pike out of the live well  return them to the lake.

   If he can catch em' out of the livewell   he could help thegreatoutdoors out in his bait shop.  I always wondered why TGO wears his life jacket in the store.  Seeing this picture answered it for me.

Well DDS, remember when you wanted to give me a free dollar for a Lake Trout side bet??  
I gracefully declined because I'm a nice guy, knowing that I'd clobber you in the Trout side bet as easily as I'd clobber you in a three fish Challenge type bet!
In case there is any question, here's a little something I picked up just goofing off today.  If I wanted to get serious, I'd go for his big brother (not that I'd need anything more than12 inch laker to beat you)

  I offer TGO a Laker side bet.  He is the only one that lives on a Lake trout lake so I figured that might be a chance at a challenge that he could win. 
All I got was    they are too hard to catch in the summer  I fished this lake my whole life so don't want my  kicked by the master of all species again.

I tossed both fish back after taking a photo. 
Like I told DDS earlier when he wanted to embarrass himself with a Laker side bet, "I don't target rough fish in the summer!"
Now that he's seeing that he wouldn't have had a chance, I assume his next "side bet" will be the Asian Carp!  (what the politically correct  now call, the Invasive Carp!!)

  Well what do you know! After all these years greatoutdoors has figured out that smallmouth bass are far superior over the walleye when it comes to the actual battle. Congrats on your first decent smallie of your lifetime.

I guess you can give up on those lazy walleyes now that you've tasted the thrill of a real battle. It gets tiring watching those walleye float up to the surface on their side and sliding into the net.

Not that you've caught that many walleye.

Sounds like DDS is a tad jealous since his Harem (flock) was taken away for shearing, and he's still waiting for their return!!

We just had a retro team photo made up that we plan on marketing after our challenge victory. They should be worth a tidy sum after we claim victory in the 2014 challenge.

   It seems as though thegreatoutdoors has taken this contest seriously this year.  It did look a little like spear marks in that walleye.           The beatdown this year will be sweet.

Borgie and I will be coming to Ely soon. All we will bring is 2 suitcases full of money and 2 fishing rods and the rest will be history. "So let it be written. So let it be done." Being a local icon and all, the crowds will be flocking the streets as they   to pay homage to the flatlanders.
