Anyone able to get out there yet? Haven't seen any posts on it, would love to get out there this weekend but don't have a death wish either. Any help would be great! BTW, just found this forum, looks like a great place so far!

Diesel Joe, welcome.  I don't have the info that you need, but I know who does...  call Wayzata Bait and Tackle and talk to Bob or Tim and tell them you are calling from here and ask your question... he'll let you know.

Wayzata Bait and Tackle, half mile west of 494 on hwy12 (952-473-2227)

(EDIT) just talked to a gut at another shop and he said that it was open a few days ago, so it's all new ice... he'd becareful about walking out there... a 4wheeler sounded like it was out of the question.  maybe give it a few more days.... this weekend possibly?  call Tim or Bob, they'll give you the full scoop though.

Big Fish - thanks for the info. With this crazy ice this year it is driving me crazy. I live right by  Wayzata bait. . . they are good guys, always get my bait from them. This year I've been limited to sunfish and tip ups on Parkers lake, but I'm dying to get on Tonka. Perhaps I'll try wayzata bay. I'll give those guys a buzz and see what they have to say. Thanks again for the heads up!

By the way, I need to get me one of those walleyes like you're holding in my avatar. . . The one in mine tasted fine according to my wife and daughters but I didn't even get a bite!
