  I have not tried this method yet but it make sense to me.  This  is for information and discussion purposes only.  We all know that the manufacturer warns of the dangers of trying to refill these canisters.

I've been doing this for a year or so now.  Watch the YouTube video that shows how to release the pressure valve to get them full.

 Thats a great video! the mid  80's when I moved back to mn. from traveling/working,a resort owner on a lake in Pine county refilled 1 lbers. He showed me the trick,Said dont tell anyone cause he supplied campground people with refills.Is it illegal to trasnport the refills or resell ? But who'd check anyway. I finally got that fuel transfer fixture about 6-8 years ago.When 1 lbers go onsale I used to get a few,Now I have a good supply for the little use I  need them for.Do the  grill tank for the ice when I did get out there!

   Make sure you have a scale.  I did a hybrid version chilling the bottle and releasing the pressure.  Very fast but very easy to over fill.  Use the adapter to bleed off the over fill like he does at the end of the video.
