Well now I gone and done it-I started up a Nascar fantasy racing league for MNO members.  This is a free league, therefore no cash prizes.  But it will still have all the fun as any other fantasy league.

As of now there is only one rule: treat everyone with respect.  Simple-humorous ribbing is ok, but don't bash anyone, drivers or fantasy league members.  This is all for fun, lets try and keep it that way!

Sign up is easy.

-Go to http://racing.fantasysports.yahoo.com/auto
-Click "create or join group"
-Click "join existing group"
-Click "join a private group"
-The group I.D. is #16373
-The password is # 2007
The group name is appropriately "MNO Racing"  (Kinda has a good ring to it!)
-Create your team name (keep it clean please)
-And your set once racing resumes in a couple of weeks!

Again, keep it clean (kids) and please keep it civil.  I've seen other racing leagues and the members are downright rude.  I'd like to keep this fun for all.  And yes, women and kids can join.  I'd prefer them to be MNO members however.

Any questions feel free to pm me.  Good luck to all who enter! ;D

I am all signed up.  Plus, I told another member (who hasn't been that active) about the league and he has a team registered.   I don't know much about NASCAR so take it easy on me.

Who's gonna sign up next?

Well I am no expert on NASCAR-I learn something new about it each year-along with the new rules Nascar implements each year.  There is a good thing about signing up for the MNO racing league-when you sign up you are automatically ranked #1!   ;D  It'll probably be the only time this year I'll be in that spot.  I'll get a schedule posted (w/ tv stations, date, time) once they make it "official".   Less than a month to go!

I'm all signed up too. I also invited a couple of friends to join MNOutdoorsman.com as well as the NASCAR Fantasy league.

With the way the Vikings stunk up the place this year I am SOOOOOOOOO ready for NASCAR to get started.

Go Denny Hamlin !!!!! FedEx...Everyday is race day.

Welcome aboard Outdoors_Realtree!  You are not the only one more than anxious for the Green flag to drop!  My wife and I are both going nutz waiting!  We're watching races we've taped over the last couple of years just to scratch that itch.

I have to admit something-last year on a league I do for work I had a choice between Denny Hamlin & Martin Truex Jr.  It wasn't an easy decision.  What I saw of Denny I was impressed-yet he hadn't come close to the wins like Truex had (Busch series).  So like everyone else (except my supervisor) I picked Truex!  Man did that hurt at the end!  ::) I said it all season-Denny will be a force to recon with!  I just hope he doesn't have that sophomore slump they always talk about!  I also think that having Tony as a team mate can only help him!

CornFed (also known as Outdoors_Realtree)

I hear ya Woody. I think Denny caught alot of people off guard last year. I work for FedEx Express (for the past 12 years) and have been an AVID NASCAR fan since about 1990. I was ecstatic when gibbs and FedEx announced plans to field the #11 team and then my hopes were quickly shot down with the signing of Jason "I can't finish a race to save my life" Leffler.

Denny gave all of us NASCAR fans at FedEx something to get excited about this past year. I can't wait to see how his career progresses. He seems to have a good head on his shoulders and he definately knows how to take care of his equipment.
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28

All you do is pick 8 drivers every week to create your team for each race.

2 drivers from the "A" list.
4 drivers from the "B" list
and 2 drivers from the "C" list.

You then select 4 of those divers to race. You can use the "driver and weekly previews" at the top of your team page to help you make your weekly selections.
The only real catch is you can only select any one driver 9 times throughout the season. So if you pick Jeff Gordon the first 9 races in a row, he's done for the season.

I joined a league for the first time last year and it was a lot of fun.

"So if you pick Jeff Gorden the first 9 races in a row, he's done for the season. "  If only it was that easy-I'm not much of a J. Gordon fan-but I have to respect him-he is a 4 time champion!

BFG-I also answered how this works on the league site.  Sorry I should have posted it here.  Thanks Joe!  It's pretty easy, and interesting how things turn out each week.  You can do all the research you want week to week on drivers-sometimes it pays off.....sometimes it don't.   It's fun to not only see how well you do, but to see how others do as well.  And like I've said before-you don't have to be a Nascar expert!  The guy I work with has walked home with the money 2 yrs running and has yet to watch a race.!  :o   The best part is right now we all start out ranked #1-it might be the only time I'm in that spot!  ::)

I'm not much of a Gordon fan myself. I just wanted to use a recognizable name. Your right though, he is a threat every week.

Personally, Stewart is the driver I hate to love and love to hate.

Glad to see some more teams signing up for our NASCAR league. This should be an interesting season with the Car of Tomorrow (today) and Toyota coming in. Did everybody hear about the changes to the "Chase for the Nextel Cup" points system? There is a link to it on www.jayski.com and i believe there was a blog about it on www.nascar.com as well this past week.

I for one cannot wait for the drop of the green flag for Speedweeks in Daytona.

Good luck everyone.

;D Awesome!  ;D Welcome Spinach & Lil Spinach, Joe, big fish guy, ScottPugh, and anyone I inadvertantly forgot to mention.  The more people involved = the more interesting it will get!

I'm still trying to talk my 12 yo son and my wife into signing up with both MNO & the MNO racing league.  I simply cannot wait until I hear those 4 famous words..... Let's go racin boys!   (Although he can skip the boogity boogity boogity part)  ::)

The first race is Daytona 500 on Feb 18th. Just make sure you have your 4 drivers active for the race before that day and you will be fine.

I think your 8 driver team needs to be selected by 2am, or some weird time, the day of qualifying. You can wait until after qualifing to make your 4 driver selections, and you can change them up until sometime on race day. I'm not sure of the time.

i got the first race covered... i wish i could just go ahead and pick them all now, or they would automatically carry forward from week to week...  i don't know if I'll remember to set them each week.

If I remember right, you can only use the same driver 9 times throughout the season.  I planned on putting up weekly reminders with the previous weeks winner.  Don't worry BFG-I gotchya covered!  My only question is...who is going to remind me to remind everyone else each week?!  ;D

I've got the prizes figured out for the MNO racing league.
1st place is a Fawkinnae Racing Team t-shirt (a $15.00-18.00 value depending on size) Gratiously donated by Doug at Fawkinnae Sportsman's Club.  Check out the website to see the t-shirt and other quality products at  http://www.fawkinnae.com
2nd place will be a official MNO decal (a $12.50 value donated by Woody-me  ;) )

As well as this league I have offered up a 2nd League-the Fawkinnae Racing League.  It is a different format, one that doesn't require as much time each week.  See the post here ---->  http://mnoutdoorsman.com/forums/index.php?topic=3574.0

So enter in both and have twice the chance at some awesome free prizes!

*Disclaimer-as always if you have any questions, feel free to pm me!

The scoring should be done by Monday following the races.  (In case you're wondering)  This is the yahoo league-I don't personally do the scoring on this one.
