We lost a good spot up north of Brainerd, and are looking for some new spots to hunt.  We were thinking about hunting up in the Alexandria area.  Can anyone provide any insight on public accessable areas we might want to check out up there?  For this fall, it would be for muzzleloader, as we have committed to another area for rifle this fall.  If we find an area we like elsewhere though, we may move our base of operations for gun season for next fall.  We're a very small group-2 to 3 guys.  All have slug guns.  I'd probably be  a one man band for muzzleloader season though.  Thanks for any input.

It's a good area. The DNR site would have all the public land info and maps

Cody is correct. There's some state and federal lands in the Douglas Co. area. Recently there was 1,000 plus acers put into public hunting by several local sportsmen groups just NE of Alex. near Belle River. If you contact the Douglas County Publics Works they should be able to hook you up with a county map showing the roads and wildlife areas. Good luck, I've been seeing deer around in my travels lately.
