:police: DNR to hold open house on proposed largemouth bass
regulation change for Pierz-Fish Lake.

 :reporter; .......
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources will hold an open house to discuss proposed changes to a special regulation for largemouth bass on Pierz-Fish Lake in Morrison County from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 8 at the Little Falls area fisheries office, 16543 Haven Road.

 :coffee: da scoop .....
DNR fisheries staff has been monitoring the bass population on Pierz-Fish Lake since 1995. In 2006, the regulation was modified to the current 12- to 20-inch protected slot limit with one fish over 20 inches allowed per day and a six-fish possession limit.

The current regulation, along with Bass Technical Committee recommendations in 2012, has allowed for a proposal to modify regulations on the lake by raising the lower end of the protected slot to 14 inches. This potential for increased harvest may improve largemouth bass size structure in the lake.
The new regulation, if approved, would allow a six-fish daily bag limit with 14- to 20-inch protected slot limit and one bass over 20 inches daily.

Public input on the proposal will help DNR fisheries staff determine  whether the current regulations should be modified. People unable to attend the open house may submit written comments to the DNR Little Falls area fisheries office, 16543 Haven Road, Little Falls, MN 56345. Comments also will be taken via email at eric.altena@state.mn.us, or by phone at 320-616-2450, extension 225.
