Jan 2016 -My sons South Dakota deer
My son and I went out deer hunting several times in December and we always saw deer but we didn't have success until the final weekend of the season Jan 2016. He had a youth tag (which is an antlerless tag).

We made a deal that if I gut it he would drag it back to the truck. We were hunting on public land (SD Game Production Area) where no motorized vehicles are allowed. It was about a mile drag. He drug it in with no complaints. Here's a picture of him and his deer.

What a deal.  My kids dragged many of my deer for me.  I thought it was a blast.
