Here to answer any Navionics Questions

Hello Brad invited to come on board MN Outdoorsman. I am a Marine Specialist for Navionics in the MN, WI and Dakotas area. I wanted to introduce myself to answer any question on mapping, charting, updating, better charting, and contours in your area.  Happy to be part of the group and wanted to offer any help I can.

Are you looking for a whole new system? Do you have a smartphone?

Yes you can, you can’t directly share it to their app. But you can click on the marker/marker can email it to them. They or you can then click on the looking glass eyecon on the top left of the screen and enter the marker/waypoint

How to create a private Waypoint or Marker on the app. Creating a marker this way is private to you.

There is a way to mark a spot called Community edit which is shared to everyone. I will show that in another post

Kirk, yes I have a smart phone. have the navionic app on it, but Id prefer to use the more detailed and ment for hand held units. I like lowrance, what im looking for is a good affordable hand held that aint a mortgage payment and vey detailed chip with for MN. now unless that phone app has gotten better with details. Maybe.

I haven’t used a handheld for awhile. All of what Navionics offers is the same on all map platforms. Do you have the current app in the paid version? When using the app make sure to click on the Sonar Icon on the lower left corner for the SonarChart High def view. I use the Lowrance Insight Map occasionally in my boat but most of then time I find Navionics has more detail, on every lake no. The app does so much more than a handheld with all its features and the ability to backup my data automatically offline. A good case with a float device if using it on the water and a bigger and better screen on a phone makes the app a good value to me.

I have the paid version and added Canada Boar.  The only reason I ever use my hand held is if I don't have a power source as it does seem to use the battery on my phone up pretty fast.  But that may be my phones fault.

i have the 15 dollar paid version, and jt definatley not as detailed as my lake master chip. why do thing vary so much

How does the auto chart live work? Does it update the contures of the lake that your on? Does that information go global then? And saved on your device?
