Yeah JB, he's gonna have trouble livin that 1 down ;) ;D, at least here. Morning all, we've got 39 & a little fog. Looks like we had a few sprinkles go thru early this am. We can use a little as it appears the frost must be about out because the drive is drying up quickly the last few days. A guy & his kid out on the bay yesterday early & late. They were walking & it appeared that they were wearing PFD's. Worked on cleaning up after the chainsaw work from before, a bit more left. Getting the snow moving equiptment ready to put away & pullin the boat out now. Not much else happening here, enjoy your day guys.

Put my 1978 4.5 hp Merc on the motor stand yesterday.  I haven't had it running in 19 years.  I got a new tank and hose and filled it with new gas of course and it started on the third pull. lolol  I couldn't believe it.  It is a little honey.  I can idle it down trolling and can see the prop turning nice a slow.  It was not peeing out water though.  I have a new impeller showing up this morning at Napa.  I will put that on and slide my 14' boat in the river today.  At least that is the plan.  First we are off to the Falls for some shopping.  Great prices there on groceries, booze and stop at Menards for that IR gas grill.  Then tonight a big thick steak to see how it works....   Gonna be a great day.    So Happy April Fools Day.  My dog Sammy (the yellow lab) tried to pull a fast one on me.  My wife got up an hour ago and fed the dogs and let them outside for a bit.  Then they all came back to bed.  When I got up at 7 Sammy runs to the dog food bin and starts hopping around like he wants to eat.  I laughed and said "I thought you fed the dogs"  she laughed and said I did..... lolol  Well Sammy is putting a full court press on me to feed him again... lolol   Oh well.....    :rotflmao:

funny dog. I love dog personalities. Ive got keshaw that plays catch alternately with Zelda, I throw a ball for one, then throw the ball for the other and time it so one isn't waiting for a ball, well after throwin for keshaw,  she eventualy ended up with a tennis ball with a big hole in it, she didn't like that and droped it half way back, like it was unworthy of her fetching. funny dog. oh MORNIN! had a rough night, ive had sciatic problems for a while now and last nigh it was bad, I couldn't sleep at all, which sucks cause Ive got many things to do. o well what gets done will get done, what dosent, will later. took my new ride out for a spin yesterday, just around town, man what a machine! words cant describe, the difference between power if ya never experienced it before, wnet from a 800 to a 1600, crasy fun, cant wait to get out and open this baby up for a little 90 mile an hour therapy. well time for more coffe, gotta get something done here, oh I'm putting two loins on the smoke today for C bacon, oh yum! you guys have a great day!

Boar your putting a couple of pieces of pork loins in the smoker today and I'm putting in a couple of pieces in the brine today.  Swarms of robins are back and it sure feels like spring.  Looking forward to heading up to the north shore for steelhead and loopers.  It's been a tradition since the 60"s .  Only missed going there because of my 3 years in the Army and one year when we had big time rain up there [the year Duluth gad a lot of damage to their streets and the walking bridge over the St. Louis river was swept away].  Raking is on the agenda today along with picking up winter dog poop.  good luck.

Morning guys, damp & a little on the cool side yday here. Still not bad considerin it was only 4/1. We've got 37 now, sposed to be a good south wind today. There's a few  lights around the bay but I didn't see anyone out on the ice. That's a good thing though as the bridges nearby are opening up quickly. Put some of my :fishing: away yesterday in fact. Going to taking the blower off the lawn tractor & pulling the boat out of the shed, in the next couple days too. Not much else from here, have good day everyone.

Had a great run to the Falls yesterday.  Had a great breakfast at the Chocolate Moose.  That is always fun.  Eggs Benedict.   sleazy-422.gif  Got the infrared grill so when we got home that became top priority.  I like the meat market here at LOW Grocery store so went there for my big porterhouse to cook on the new grill.  The meat manager there is a great guy too.  Well the grill worked awesome.  I sprinkled a few wood chips on the grate and they started smoking right away.  So today the water pump impeller needs to get installed on the 4.5 Merc.  And like RH I need to do the dog poop thing.  I pull one of those old fashioned 4' drags behind my 4 wheeler all around the yard.  Rebs would pull his hair out watching me drag the yard...  :rotflmao:  My yard does not look like his.  It does get green though.  That is all that matters for me.   :happy1:  Left over steak with eggs then outside to do the projects.  Oh ya like I mentioned on the Grill thread I am doing some beef ribs for the first time today on the pellet smomer.  Thinking a 5 hour smoke just like pork spares.  Later all.

Oh ya.  Neither the Big Fork or the Little Fork had broken up as of yesterday.  They were both completely ice covered.  The ice looked bad like it is ready to break up but hasn't yet.  They look real low too.  I could see that sand bar along the shoreline.  And not hardly any snow on the ground anymore.

Morning fellers! 47 and all clouds here. Awefully slow morning here. Think Glenn had to much fun yesterday. My body is sore. Went into full summer mode yesterday moving winter and summer stuff around including all the summer ornaments. Going to bring the boat home today. Seen a high school buddy of mine dad's passed away so what know what's on the agenda for tomorrow!

A little info on beef ribs, from a book "franklin Barbeque" by a guy that has a very popular BBQ joint in Austin Texas (and a show on PBS)

BEEF RIBS

Almost as iconic in Texas as the brisket, beef ribs are spectacular for both cooking and eating. Incredibly rich, tasty, and delightful, they’re also really expensive and take pit space away from our staples like brisket and pork ribs. But they’re delicious, so we cook them only on Saturdays. People love them and it’s not hard to understand why: they are truly impressive cuts. At Louie Mueller in Taylor, the spot that’s probably most famous for them in Texas, the beef ribs are served as a giant hunk of meat with an enormous, caveman-style bone sticking out one end. The meat is succulent, juicy, and thickly coated in black pepper.
The cuts of ribs on a steer and on a pig have both similarities and differences. Of course, they come from either the top or the bottom of the animal. One major difference is that a steer is much, much bigger than a typical pig, meaning that there are much greater differences between the ribs on one end versus the other. Another difference is in the nature of the meat that attaches to the ribs on the top and bottom of the animal.
The rib cage and shoulder area of the steer is so big that it’s divided into three main sections called primals: the chuck, the rib, and the plate. The chuck and rib primals are on the top of the animal and the plate primal is underneath. The division between the chuck and rib is made with a cut between the fifth and sixth ribs. Ribs 1–5, which are on the head end, go with the chuck primal, and ribs 6–12 go with the rib primal. Chuck meat, which is the hardworking shoulders of the steer, is best cut up for braises and stews. Those few ribs on the chuck side are often found cut very thinly and horizontally (with each piece of meat containing multiple round pieces of bone) as flanken- or Korean-style short ribs. Not too many people barbecue chuck ribs.
Back ribs come from the top of the animal, much as baby backs do on pigs. The difference is that the meat that beef back ribs are cut away from is the rib-eye, the most desirable cut on the whole animal. Therefore, butchers cut as close to the bone as possible to preserve as much on the boneless rib-eyes as they can, which can almost always be relied on to leave shiners on the ribs. Obviously, not a lot of meat is left, and it’s generally found between the bones, not on top of them. It’s tasty though not hugely popular at a lot of barbecue joints.
The real showstopper, the kind of ribs we use, comes from the plate primal. (To situate you, the plate primal sits on the underside of the cow just behind the brisket and in front of the flank.) The plate short ribs are the meatiest, with the meat on top of the bones layered with fat. The meat on these is heavily marbled and also dense with connective tissue, making them richly flavored and ideal for long, slow cooking. Shorter cuts of these are often sold as short ribs. We go for plate ribs 6, 7, and 8—right in the middle of the rib cage—which have the longest, widest, meatiest bones, like brontosaurus ribs. They make spectacular barbecue. Although beef plate ribs are perhaps not the easiest thing for the professional to cook every day, they are fantastic for the home cook.

I would like to read that Del.  Good morning.  I slept like a baby last night.  Those beef ribs sat well with me.   ;)  Got the impeller in the 4.5 but it was so daen windy I didn't feel like putting the boat in yesterday.  Sounds like a nice week weather wise.  Have a good one.

Morning all. Yes, it was darn windy yesterday. Glad I wasn't out on the ice fishing yesterday. Did really good fishing Saturday, so that was enough for me to call it a ice season. Time to get some projects done around the house now. Need to get the sheetrocking done in the garage now so I can put the snowmobiles away. Well, another grand week in store. Have a good one all!

Very windy here too LPS, it really did a number on the ice along our shoreline. The 1st 10-20 yds is almost black now. Morning all, it's 40 & foggy here. Back to the upper 40's for a couple days later this week, then 60's to near 70 by the weekend, they're sayin. Not much real pressing on the schedule, so back to my outside projects for a bit today. Hope you have a good day, all

Up at 4am today.  Almost as early as Coffee.  Stage two of prep for Colonoscopy, stage 1 was yesterday.

I'll need a nap to make it through the game tonight.
