Morning boys.  Good thing you were there Mike.  We have -16 here and tonight we may see -27.  Too damn cold.  Glad we have good snow cover.  Poor Bucko.  He looks happy standing in the sun though.  He has plenty of hay and twice a day grain so that's all I can do for him.  The cold snap is now bleeding into next week too.  I am getting a little low on firewood so hope it warms up soon.  I will start plowing a trail out to the burn pile.  I have some real nice dry elm on one side of the pile I can cut up.  May have to get the excavator out there to pick up and hold them for me.  Well stay warm and be careful out there.

Think I'll just work on staying warm today. I hate this time of year. If the temp is above 10 degrees I'm OK. Below that no. I did make a tool to adjust my garage doors yesterday, may try it out this afternoon. Later..... :happy1: :happy1:

It's a retirement hobby.   :sleazy:  My Besswood 10" slicer showed up today.  Pretty darn cool.
LPS, that’s the same slicer I have. You’ll like it.

Those are nice slicers.  They work great for slicing jerky best when the meat is just about froze. Now I am thinking I need to make jerky soon.

I have that bacon soaking in the beer frig so that will be my first fun thing to slice.  Then, yes we want to try some jerky. The slicer is on the kitchen table as we try to figure out where we want to put it.  I did order the cover for it too.  Good to hear you like yours Coop.   :happy1:  We want to dehydrate some things now too. Banana chips may be first.

Mornin' fellow gulag comrades! 1 above at choretime heading for a high around 8 above. Some light snow falling occasionally with a forecast calling for 1" - 3". Feed truck arrived yesterday about 12:30. They had problems getting everything running & the unloading auger wanted to drift so the guy had to manually keep it on target. He apologized profusely but I understood. When it's 10 below at a feed mill, anything is possible and none of it is good. No newbies overnite. Yesterday's efforts are alive and well. Best of all, looks like thawing their ears out kept their integrity intact. We have one little ewe lamb born earlier that wasn't so fortunate. Eventually they lose the tips on their ears when they get froze. Looks like the shearing date is on track for Saturday. That'll help keep the ewes inside when they lamb more often than not, keeps the barn drier and makes it easier for the lambs to find the udder to nurse. As of yesterday, we're at least half done lambing if I counted right. At least another week of cold the way it looks. It's wearing me out.

That year when we had so many days of -30's in a row Buckos tips of his ears got grayish.  Maybe half inch or so.  Man I felt so bad but what can you do.  Hug him and feed him.  You would never know now looking at him.  I will never forget it though.

Morning boys. -26 here and supposed to make 2 above today. The wood stove is already hungry this morning. Sure ate up the wood last night. I put a bucket load of wood in the shed last night. Will put the rest I cut up in there tonight. Otherwise just getting ready for another day in the salt mines. Have a good one boys.

I did work on my garage doors yesterday and it appears they are now tighter than before and hopefully hold in more heat. Today's mission is to stay warm. Minus 15 here now. Maybe load up some trap loads today, later....... :happy1: :happy1:

Mornin boys, we've got -26 for our start as well & they're sayin we could see 6 on the other side. It was a bit of on the quiet side everywhere we stopped in GR yday. Usually, it can be kind of tough to get down a lot of the grocery aisles at WM on Wednesday, but it wasn't too bad yday. :happy1: I've got a couple little things I can do to start & will go from there. Have a good day.

Morning boys.  We are looking at -25 and should get up to +3.  I will not be hurrying outside today.  That's ok, I have a good book to keep me busy. They skies are a clear as can be this morning.  I saw we had a full moon last night.  It was big and round.  I see we have this kind of weather till next Thursday.  Just have to deal with it.  Have a good one.

By having a fire at about 10 am and then loading it up at about 4 I can still maintain 42 degrees in the morning.  May be a little colder this morning.  It gets up to the 60's pretty fast when the fire is going.  So this morning it is a 75 degree difference when it is -25.  Actually it may be down to 38 or so this morning in the garage.  I save a lot of wood if I can get by with 2 loads in the wood burner.  Today may be a 3 load though.

Good morning, campers. Clear, calm and -14° this morning when the hens told me to close the coop door. Shoveled the sidewalk, brushed off the wife's Edge and burned some coop trash by 8:00. That may be the most work I do all day.
I used to be cute and adorable. Then, I had my first birthday. Been downhill ever since.

Good morning All.   Temp just dipped to -32.8 for a few minutes this morning.  On the positive side it has warmed up to -26 now.  I don't think my furnace has stopped all night.  Project today is to just stay warm.

Mornin' fellow gulag comrades! -14 for the low at choretime, heading for a high around 5 above. Another set of twins last nite with more life saving measures employed. Ya don't screw around when it's this cold. Have a garage baby as a result. Sent the pic to the neighbor who passed it along to his wife. She called him back, all excited, thinking it was in their garage! I texted him back informing him we had several models to choose from...:rotflmao: Somehow I don't think he was amused. Stayed home this a.m. to ride herd on things. Will see how the rest of the day goes if I venture forth or not. VD tomorrow, especially if you visit Inger...
