horseshoe stats...who knew they kept those.  Then again I'm keeping fishing stats this year.  14 of 15 days I've caught the limit of walleyes on our lake of 4 or more and yes I let most of them go. I will keep keeping track until my success rate goes down which is bound to happen.  Ironically I get shut down by the wife about 14 of 15 times too. :surrender:
just like bowling and golf! Had to keep them for future tournaments.

I've got a horse shoe pit all set up at cabin that an old neighbor, God rest his soul, put in one time without asking my dad.  He was a good friend but he'd come over on weekend and want to play horse shoes during fishing season all the time.

It's all yours to anyone who wants it.  Just come and dig it up and you don't even need to smooth the dirt.  He did do a heck of a job putting it in 25 or so years ago, it's still in perfect condition if you like throwing a metal object at a post and getting excited about it.

Spent yesterday working at the cabin.  It's finally getting to where I would like it to be.  I also had time to finish replenishing the last four mineral stations.  All 11 stations have been supplied with mineral blocks, loose minerals and salt.  Trails weren't too bad, only had to use the chain saw one time.  Just saw the first few deer flies so it won't be long before you have to stay our of the woods.

Cabin after adding new 2x12 beams.

I spent half hour playing with this doe.  After a while I just went about
my business and she just kept eating.

Turkey with flock of chicks.  Chicks not visible in grass but they would hop up and
fly short distances.

I did an old school thing last night.  I'm leaving for the cabin this morning and I went to the gas station to specifically fill up for the trip.  My dad always used to do that as though there was no gas station between home and the cabin.  I was just bored and frankly I'm sure there was enough gas to get me there.

Seems that same trip to the same place we do with a little less angst than the old days.  Dad used to take a short nap before we left for home on Sunday too as though he was getting ready for the Daytona 500 or something.  The small playmate cooler always had two Pepsis in it for dad and a bottle of water that used to contain orange juice and one of those blue freezer/cooler things to keep things cold.  We were commanded to go to the bathroom twice before we left, once wasn't enough.

It wasn't like we were in a rush, 60 miles into the trip we'd usually stop for lunch in St Cloud at kind of a fancy place and it took a full hour to eat.  It was moms reward for cooking all week at home I think.  She always complained about the food...how embarrassing as a teenager but we always went back the next week.  Those were the days for sure!

I posted this earlier but it didn't show up for some reason.  I didn't have anything that important to say anyways.  Nice deer spot you have there Deadeye.  Yup I would sit right there having coffee and wait for the one in the pasture.   lol   LL if you were closer I would come and get the horseshoe thing.

I had pineapple for breakfast this morning.  Got one the other day and cut it up last night so it would be nice and cold today.  Really hit the spot.  Gonna have to buy them more often.  I always say that I guess.  Did chicken breasts on the Daniel Boone last night.  Sounded kind of blah but they were great.  Had a nice brown on them too.  I have to get better at doing pics on here.  Also picked another batch of asparagus along the driveway too so they were the side.  Not sure if they will keep on producing or not.  Hope so.

That place is sure purddy deadeye!!! I had a place south of Duluth years back, On a lake and in the woods shot a few deer out the kitchen window. My stands were 60 yards out the backdoor beyound the entry driveway.
Place I am now I could shoot em off the porch but but,I told the ole girl this is a refuge for critters cept for squirrels which I thin out every 2-3 years.

LPS love pineapple here too!! the ole girl likes it and watermelon more and I have to hide my taste or she says arent you going to eat this!! An its only been cut for 20 minutes!!!

Hiding out in the airconditioning again today it ran most the night and its 82 right now with a 72 dewpoint! I moved to Mn for the cool northern weather??Where did I go wrong??? to far south I guess?

Happy Friday All! Not much exciting here. Going to grill some top sirloins for din din tonight. Then the plan tomorrow is to run down to the hunting land in Skime to put the trailcams out and freshen up the mineral licks. We will probably mow around the cabin too. Should be a good Saturday project. Sunday we plan to work on projects around the house. Maybe someday we will fish.  have a good one all.

We had golf league last night which went well.  Today the neighbor invited us over for supper and to hang out at the pool.  The grass is shin high in my yard in places (no exaggeration) but mow grass or drink beer by/in the pool?  Not a difficult choice.  Oh well it's not like I have a John Deere mower and need to cut it before it gets 5 inches tall.  Then I'm in a golf tournament tomorrow and when that is over it's right back to the pool.

Morn'in gents!
Working on my coffee, and trying to get mama motivated. I have to make a run to town and pick up some mineral salt, sofner salt, salt blocks and a few other odds and ends. I would like to get this stuff done before the heat of the day hits. Then we have a wedding to go to at 3  :doah:
I did get one of them Wal-Mart pools set up yesterday. So I might have to grab a beer and sit in there later.

Have a great day, and stay cool!

Morning.  We had a great night last night.  It was hot out but on the deck we had a nice breeze.  Went for a boat ride and there were actually some pretty good waves that splashed us a little and felt good.  Shot a house sparrow off the martin house.  Just put it up last fall and have had no martins.  As we were sitting on the deck having cocktails here 3 martins stopped and landed on the house.  UNREAL!!  I think I should drop the house and clean it out today.  I shot 2 starlings last week that had a nest in it and now the sparrows.  I want those martins to come back.  I have a martin CD that my brother gave me.  He has lots of martins.  I need to figure out a way to put that speaker up by the house.  I have a cheap CD player that I won at a company Xmas party a few years ago.  Maybe if I cut the wires and get some speaker wire I could rig something up.  I hear it works pretty good to attract them.  Any tips would be appreciated.

So today it is cold outside and not supposed to get above 72 today and 69 tomorrow.  Seems cold after yesterday in the 80's.  i think we are going to mow and get a bunch of things done here today while it is good working weather.  Then tomorrow we can go for a drive in the new car or something else.  ????  I actually can't wait for Viking season.  Isn't that what Sunday is all about?

Wow Coffee that is one heck of an agenda.  That would be fun to go to the Open.  We keep talking about going to a Twins game but don't seem to ever make it there.  Too much fun doing other stuff on weekends.  Real dark here this morning. Pretty good chance of rain.  I sprayed dock yesterday.  Spent all afternoon at it.  I think I got it all.   lol  It is easier to spray it than pick it out of the horses tails and mane.  That gets old fast.  The wife got the lawn mowed and it looks great.  I also picked over a 5 gallon pail of asparagus yesterday at a guys place that grows it.  Now today we have to freeze it in vac bags.  We also had a nice fire last night.  Have a lot to burn with the straw off the septic tank piled up by our fire spot and branches we have trimmed off trees.  Fun to get it burned up.  Listened to Highwaymen radio and had a few cocktails while doing it.  Thinking about doing some bb ribs today.  Matter of fact I will get them out of the freezer right after I am done talking to you.  I just put them in the sink with hot water and they thaw out in minutes.  I do that with all of my frozen meat.  Works lot better than the microwave.

Got some good advice on what to put in a food plot on here too.   I have never done it before and hope to get it done next weekend.  Sunflowers sounds like a fun thing to grow.  I have deer in my spruce grove now and then and want to lure them in even more with some crops....     ;)  Funny how you can't throw out a pail of corn during hunting season but you can grow anything to lure them in.  That is government at it's finest making those rules.  :bonk:

Later, have a great day.

Well we shot a -5 at the tournament yesterday.  On one of the par 3's the police had you put beer goggles on and try and hit.  Let's just say I stuck it to 10 ft.  Yeah right I could barely hit the ball  :doah:  other than that hole I was on fire.  The grass is going to get mowed today and what ever other chores I've been putting off for the week.

Windy and rainy on and off here.  Can't do much outside.  Packed the asparagus today.  Made 22  serving sized packs.  Put the 3  3lb pork bellies in the Pop's Brine now that I got the Cure #1.   Have ribs ready to put on the Daniel Boone in awhile.  Think I will do them the 3 hours at 275 and no foil method.  Will baste with something or rub with butter the last hour or so.  Kind of a food type of day.  Made cole slaw too.  Still have to do RH's Kimchi thing though.  Keep putting it off.  The first time is always the hardest with things.  Once you do it it is easy....
