'mornin'! It is indeed hump day. Can't wait for the time to change back this weekend. Bumbling around in the dark every morning takes a lot of the fun out of it. I was always gonna ask you LPS if you're any relation to the My Pillow guy. Been getting the urge to grill some lamb so need to think up something creative. Forgot my Smokey Joe in my truck when we transferred everything over to Bill's Escalade so alas we had no lamb in Canada. Did grill some Italian sausage on the gas grill there. Good thing it was dark. That grill is so grungy it's gross. I let it heat up quite a while before putting anything on it.

Mornin fellers. You too reb. Took the morning off from fieldwork today to get a few things ready for deer season, then work this afternoon. Not sure about you guys, but I'm definitely not ready for deer season to be here yet. The weather is gorgeous, projects to get done, more geese to kill, yada yada yada. But it will be here in a few days whether I'm ready for it or not, so I guess I better be ready.

I did get my batch of canadian bacon somoked Sunday night, it turned out great!! I had a couple slices for breakfast yesterday, and made a few sandwiches with it for lunch yesterday.

Have a great day everybody!!!!

Thanks Glenn. I will have to fight her off like Dotch does to keep her focused on shooting the deer.  ;) :happy1:

Morning all.  No Dotch The Lindell Ice Rigs came from Jim Lindell who started them in the early eighties.  I bought in 2000 and made lots of upgrades.  He is related to the pillow guy.

Well I am getting worried about the weather for deer camp.  I will be hunting with my brother at Ottertail.  Well the low on Sat night is 46 and about the same for Sun night.  60 for the highs.  That is pretty warm.  Don't know about hanging a deer overnight.  We can always hose them down with cold water for the initial cooling.  ????   May just have to run to the New York Mills locker with them if we are lucky.  I am excited about the hunt.  We will be in a ground blind in a spot we have never had it before so will be fun to have different scenery.  My brother put the blind up last weekend.

Morning all. Ya, the warm weather will not help the hunting. But it will be nice for sitting. LPS, the deer will be fine for 2-3 days especially if you can keep them in the shade. They get cool down pretty good at night and the warmth of the day now is not as long as it is in July. Other wise quarter them up and drop them in a cooler. Today is my last day of work. Head to deer camp after work today. Just need to pick up some barley and hops before heading to deer camp. Have a good day all and a good deer hunt!!!

So I gotta ask. There are a few discussions about deer being fine if they hang in the shade. How do you find shade when all the leaves are down???

Good luck and be careful out there guys and gals. Even though it's been about 10yrs since I've hunted I still get buck fever this time of year, our season doesn't start until the Monday after thanksgiving.

Yes and no, for about 10 years now they put an antler restriction throuout the state. Some areas you can only shoot a buck that has atleast 4 points on one side and other areas there has to be 3 points on one side. Their reasoning is to shoot the big bucks and let more smaller bucks out there for breeding. If you kill all the big bucks off and just leave the scrub bucks that's all your going to have. If a deers genetics is only going to be a scrub buck then that's what goes in the gene pool, but the higher wisdoms will argue with that thinking
