well good morning all. The weather is just crazy. I finally pulled the boat after experiencing the great fall fishing ? I did manage to get one fish last Friday. Now to my deer hunting. I was trying to take a deer with my recurve this year. Sitting in my portable stand last sunday and a small buck comes walking down the trail and is going to walk right in front of me 20 feet away. I stand up and get ready and  it looks like he is looking right at me. I'm froze as he stops straight in front of me broadside. I'm thinking if I pull back he will see me move so I wait as he keeps walking. Perfect he is going to walk behind a couple saplings and I will have a perfect quartering away shot. I slowly turn and start to raise my bow and the seat on the portable tips down and clanks. he gets startled. I raise my bow  and as I'm pulling back I hit a tree branch and just like that he take a couple jumps and I blow my shot. So now I'm sitting there reliving what I could of done different . Hindsight I should of drawn and shot while he was standing in front of me, so I'm pulling my bow back and aiming where he was. I do this over and over a half a dozen times . About a hour goes buy and here comes a very large deer running full speed .He is going to run right by me going the other direction and right through the spot I had been aiming. It happened so fast. I saw his antlers and drew back and fire the arrow . Thunk I drill him and watch as he runs around the corner with my arrow barley in him. I wait 10 minutes climb down and find my arrow bent in half with no Brodhead. We spend the next two hours looking for blood and all I find was hair. The good news is My friend Bob got him Friday night with his gun. A 8 pointer  pushing well over 200 pounds. Ill send a pic to boar and maybe he can post it. Was it a mistake to shoot? It happen so fast and was so close. I did find where I hit him Just behind the front leg, He was stretched out and hit a rib  bone solid

Cookie, that was just bad luck or Karma or something.   Hit a rib.  An inch either way and it is lungs or heart and he is down in no time.

Great job on the deer gents :happy1:. The kid and i were put through he'll this weekend, ripped out the old tub and tile in the bathroom and put in new. The old tub turned out to cast iron which really sucker getting otta there.  The new fiberglass unit was much easier to work with but 1" concrete under the floor tiles needed to be cut back an inch which that really sucked also.

The drain didn't match up nor did the new faucet so after lots and lots of trips to several different small and big hardware stores the tub and surround is all in. A little finish work needs to be done yet but I'm thinking did I really save much doing it ourselves...I think next time I'll watch someone do it for me.

One never knows when diving into those projects.  At least you didn't have to wait for someone to show up and screw up your schedule while waiting and then having to pay big bucks for it besides...   Good job.

Ain't that a pain, boober? I redid my bath a few years back...had to bop everything around like that, too. The cast iron tubs are in demand, as they can re-porcelainize them. If ya haven't already, put it out on C-list. Surprising what folks want...when I got my new fridge last month, I put the old one on Clist for $100. It sold in 20 mns.  ;)

I took the three deer in to McDonalds Meats for processing.  The normal place we used was full up and wouldn't take any more deer.  Spent the rest of the day collecting and processing hides from our MDHA Hides for Habitat boxes.  We processed around 130 hides today.  Great weather for this dirty work. Not to hot that they get stinky and not to cold that they are stiff or frozen.  Remember to drop your hides in and MDHA box. Thanks

30* and heavy fawg here. Wedder service says it's freezing fawg. What the hey is that?   Plan to do final mow/leaf suck with bagger today, blow out gutters, and that's it.  Change oil on mower, fog cylinder, blow out air filter, and she's done until next Spring. Cold stuff comin' this weekend. I'm ready. Freezer full, house buttoned up, changed oil and filter on truck, checked all fluids, checked air in tires, ran silicone over the door seals, sprayed some in door locks, and threw snow brush/scraper in. Good thing to do now, guys. I'm set.  ;)

Rebs you sure are efficient.  I wish you were my neighbor so you could keep all of my stuff up to date.  Although then I would have to keep my yard looking great and that probably won't happen.  Mine is just ok.  I am sure that woukld irritate you watching to see if my dandelions spread into your yard.... :rotflmao:  Slept great last night and kept dreaming of golfing.  I haven't golfed in 2 years....  hhmmm  So what's up with that.  Maybe a pre retirement anticipation thing....   Well have a great day all...

If you let yer dandelions get into my yard, I'd offer up a friendly reminder.  :taz:    ;D Actually, we'd probably get nothing done. Be having too much fun goofing off.  I like having all that stuff done ahead of time, Barry. I always do the blowers first weekend in October. Even re-riveted the edge on the snow shovel! Went thru the furnace; pulled out winter coats and gloves, windows washed, new weatherstripping on all doors, entire outside of house checked and any areas re-caulked. Heaters ready in garage, my playland for the winter. What else do we retired guys have to do?  ;) No excuse not to be ready.
I was thinking some slb bacon for breakfast...dang! None out of the freezer. For some reason, thinking a sausage sandwich.... :whistling:

Morning all. Got back from Deer camp last Thursday, then hunted the state land by the house. This is my wife's first year hunting so we sat all weekend hoping for a buck to step out for her. We have one more weekend to get it done. I have this Friday off to hunt, so we will see what happens. Sounds like the snow may miss us up here now. Would be nice to see a little white stuff on the ground for the last weekend. I was back to the old salt mine yesterday. I always love the first day back to work after a week off. Fun to play catch up. We were 6 for 7 at deer camp. We processed deer that Monday and made sausage. We made breakfast sausage, Smoked polish and smoked salami. Had the smokers a rolling away on Tuesday. it was a good time. have a good day all!!

Hello fellas!  I've been trying to catch up at work so I can head out west with the framper and do a little pheasant hunting Thursday thru Sunday.  Hopefully the weather stays a little colder for the dogs.

Morning Gents. Yah, I think the blizzard watches are for the whole state. They still don't know where the main storm is going to hit. All I know is I will be sitting in the deer stand on Friday. Probably sit all day. Keep trying to talk the wife into taking Friday off too. She is talking about maybe half day. A little white stuff would be nice for hunting this weekend. Bring it on. Well, another day in the salt mines. Have a good day!!

We got 37 now, heading for 50-55. We'll be packin up today & sliding out early tomorrow. Hope to be back in SE Mn by 2 or 3 pm tomorrow. I don't think they are supposed to get much snow Friday. We'll have to see how the storm goes as to if we stop at mom's or keep going & get back to N Ia.          Have good day guys.

Yup storm watch in affect.  Will be interesing to see what happens.  Sounds like south of us between Thief and Marshall will get the brunt of it....   We are supposed to get some though.  The wife is wanting me to get the boat out of the water but I can't just give in that easily so will wait some in case I want to go out one more time....
