Yup LPS, that cancer is a horrible way to go and cigarettes can get you there faster. Used to enjoy heaters but was a good habit to break. Expensive too especially when people were bumming them.  confused-3316.gif

Thermometer showed a low of 5 above here but at Waseca it was -2, -4 in Owatonna and 0 in Albert's Leaf. I'd question the reliability of my thermometer sometimes. Seems like it's typically 2 - 4 degrees on the warm side. Hopefully this was the last of our real cold stuff for a while. Ready for some mud again!

sorry to hear the news LPS, I know what you are saying about the smokes.  I quit in the early 80's, but then started again about 10 years ago.  but I did quit again last labor day so 6 plus months ago.  funny thing is it never bothered me to be around smokers the first time, but this time, hate it!!!  5 here to start the day, sunny out all good so far!!  have a good all!!

I was at yer favorite store fighting the AISLE BOVINES®, which were out in force today, plugging up most of the aisles. Had to get groceries. Odd'n ends. Friggin' $6 for a tiny watch battery!!! WTH is up with battery prices anyway? Four pk of Duracells $6.97....nuts!  And oil...$5 a qt for Valvoline??!!  I remember when it was .99 qt at all Stooper-america's....

I buy batteries like 2032 which are all over the place in stuff these days from amazon.  much cheaper.  Buy like 50 at a time.   

I also order the hearing aid batteries for the elderly lady down the street.  again much cheaper than buying a few at the store.

Morning all.  Sounds like most of the resorts have pulled their houses off the lake in the last few days.  have not been out there for awhile but I bet they appreciate getting everything off before it gets too dangerous.  Have the corned beef and cabbage ready to cook on Friday.  Can't wait.  Also got kraut for reubens on Sat.  I am drooling just thinking about it.  I may get a few more corned beefs while they are on sale.  Later...

Morning guys, got to the lake around 10 yesterday. Stopped at Fred's to get our new licenses & he was sayin with the recent cold spell & not much snow on the lake that there's as much or more ice around here as there has been all year. Can't say personally as I didn't get down to the lake yesterday. Seen 5 atv's go out of the lodge yesterday late pm though. Just enough snow on the ice to keep from being a ice skating rink but they're talkin 40's & rain for today so we'll see. Got 19 now & will be rounding up the ice gear some today as most of it got put away before we went home last time. One of my favorite times of the year with all the college hoops going on, so I'm sure there'll be some of that today as well. Hope you enjoy your day.

Ice is on the way out on St. Olaf after yesterday. Were several swans sitting by the open water near the access. Those Reuben's sound mighty tasty LPS. Anything with Swiss cheese on it has got to be good for you.

We are done lambing as of this a.m. After several years of not having one on the place for anything other than health papers, had to call the vet for an assist. Ewe started about 3 a.m. then quit. Checked her at 6 and her cervix wasn't dilated enough to allow me to get the lamb up to where I could get it out. It was a pretty good show animal producing ewe too so I didn't want to rip her up. This guy has dairy goats so he knows his way around small ruminants pretty well. He worked on her for a while and managed to get both lambs out alive. After what had been a relative breeze on the rest, true to form the last few were the most problematic. Just glad we're done. Only problem is now Mrs. Cheviot will get back to chasing me around the house!  sleazy-422.gif

TGIF and Happy St Pats Day.  Sure could have stayed in bed longer this morning.  The shower always wakes me up.  And the coffee.  Now the Cheerios.  It was raining as we went to bed and now the ground is white.  The dogs came in wet so something is still coming down.  I was going to drive today but may wait an hour to let it warm up a bit.  Other than that have a great day.

Like LPS said. TGIF. Last night on the weather they were showing that we were looking at 7" of snow. I was hoping, but we did not get that much. Maybe a 1/2" at the most. I was hoping for some white on the ice to protect it from the sun. Not ready to give up the ice fishing yet. The wife and I are planning to take our conceal and carry class tomorrow. that should be fun. probably fish on Sunday then. other then that another day in paradise. Have a good one.

doing good. still gets sore by days end but haven't had to take ANYTHING for pain in a long while. what I went in to get fixed appears to be taken care of. just the healing process now from the procedure. I suspect they will tell me still no ATV ,S etc but we shall see. thanks!!!

32 here & the ground is white here too. About the same for us as JB, just enough to cover most of the bare ground. The rain started about 6 last night & I think it's still sprinkling / misting. Sure looks like it made a mess to the surface of the ice here. I checked the radar around 3 am & it sure looked like there was a lot of freezing rain over around Bemidji. Wind is supposed to shift to the NW & blow 10-20 mph with gusts to 30 later today, then upper 40's to 50 for a couple days. The ice here will be a mess for a while unless we get some more cold weather. No big projects today, not real big on the St. Pattys thing either. More college BB as I believe Ia. will be playing their 2nd round NIT game later. Have a good day, guys. Drive careful, it could be slick.

hey gunner...............is there still a lot of snow in the woods. I have a meeting in grand rapids on the 27th and was thinking about spending the weekend prior at the cabin putzing, but not if there's a lot of snow around yet???

I need to go back where I deer hunt..........somehow my hunting knife feel out of the sheath!!!!! wanna see if I can find it before it greens up!!!!!
