That sort of thing is always very sad.  My sympathy for you.   It's one of the things that makes getting old tough.

Thanks guys. This ones really gonna shred me. She was a good friend, besides being a co-worker. We had a lot of yuks. Plus, she was into hot rods, and had a beautiful red '79 Trans-am she bought new. It went to her nephew, she promised him that a couple years ago. We talked about it when she first got ill. She sure loved my early girl 'mato's. Took her up a bunch every time I went to see her last Summer, when she got put in a rehab facility.

Morning all, 38 for us with a steady 10 + mph wind out of the north. Supposed to be dry today but the rain returns tonight thru Monday, cooler & more wind too. Not much on my list for today. Hope you enjoy your Saturday.

Morning all.  Man am I pumped about getting RB Cook and OL Elflein in the draft last night.  Just watched Cooks highlight reels and I am looking forward to the season even more now.  Wonder who we will get today???  They did say Cook needs to get out of Miami and his group of people to stay out of trouble.  Elflein seems like a solid guy.  The draft starts at 11 today and I think the Vikes have one of the first picks.  I will keep an eye on that and try to get some stuff done around here too....   THAT will be a challenge..

Mornin'! 34 here but at least it's cloudy.  Hopefully someone takes Cook under their wing and he keeps his nose clean after he gets here. I gotta fix some fence then take Ruby to the vaccination clinic. Get her dose of heartworm meds and update her other shots. Should find time to put the belts back on the mower deck and reattach it so when it warms up the wife can mow!  :happy1: After chores tonite we're heading out in the Stude for a cruise down 218 to Lansing Corners restaurant with the car club. They recently reopened so will be interesting to see if it's changed since 30 years ago when I ate there.

Looks like it would be a mighty pretty drive up that direction. Remind me of that one again so if a hemiptera crawls up my anus some weekend we can check it out. There's a place a little closer to me just east of Le Center I want to try out too called Little Dandy. Been by it dozens of times when it's closed during the day. Open nights and have heard some positive things about it. Was on US Hwy 10 on my way to Brrrmidji and it brought back memories of my college days working for the U. We ate lunch frequently at the Coffee Cup in Becker (looks like it's closed) and saw signs for The Spot where we used to eat in Staples. Not fancy places but always lots of meat, taters and gravy. My favorite though was Ted and Gen's at Aldrich. Ate some of our evening meals there when we were travelling. They had and looks like still have a pit where they do ribs. Also served really great turkey gizzards as part of their  appetizers.  A friend of ours from NY Mills area claims it's still a great place to eat, one of his favorites actually. A bit of a hike but it's on my bucket list to nosh there at least one more time.

Hey Dotch, that place is one I want to too.  it's 60 miles or less from here so a good bike ride.  The Firestation in Wadena is another one I want see. hear nothin but good about them.  there's also a smoke house place in Wadena just west of the stop lights I want to try, made it there once on a Sunday, closed Sundays, which was a surprise!!

Looks awesome, boober. Especially compared to what's going on here. 41 with rain & a 20 mph NE wind. Probably about the high for the day the way it looks. Some nasty stuff in store for NW Ia. today. Don't think we're supposed to get much of snow in the forcast here, staying west of us. Hope you stay warm & dry & enjoy your Sunday.

44 here too but nice and sunny.  Stacked firewood yesterday.  Then the wife had a nice fire in the pit.  Went for a cocktail boat ride just slowly along the shore of the river.  Love doing that.  Talked to some friends along the way who were out in their yards.  Lots of sturgy fisherman out there too.  Put some plastic flower things on the window to keep the birds from hitting so hard.  They are actually for on bathtubs for traction.  Need to find something else eventually.  May do some ribs on the Daniel Boone today.  Brave that storm out down there you guys.  Be careful..

Too much fun?   You union guys....

St. Paul mayoral candidate Dai Thao, a city council member, has fired his campaign manager following allegations the pair pressured a lobbyist for “resources” in advance of a city council vote, according to a media report.

Fox 9 investigator Tom Lyden reported Saturday that Thao met with a lobbyist in February at the Golden Thyme coffee shop on Selby Avenue to discuss a vote coming up before the council. Thao repeatedly told the lobbyist “he needed resources so he could spread his message,” Lyden said.

Hours after the meeting, Thao’s campaign manager Angela Marlow texted the lobbyist to indicate that if the campaign received a donation, “we will certainly rethink this issue.” The lobbyist responded by text message that the solicitation could be interpreted as a bribe request, which is illegal.

After being approached by Lyden, Thao fired Marlow as his campaign manager. Marlow is a Ramsey County employee and union officer with AFSCME Local 8, which represents county librarians, social workers, public defenders and other professional employees.
