Morning fellers. Same here as Dotch. 30* and picked up another 2" snow last nite for a total of 6". (No accumulation, remember) Thunder all nite, snow, sleet, hail, pebbles, rain, ice, tumbling skwirrels. Winds roaring along at a steady 44-46 mph. Power lines down, roads closed, all schools closed (13th time) and a lot of businesses closed, plus most churches. I thought they were supposed to be open and welcoming to everyone around the clock... prayin' for nice weather. I ain't touchin' nothin' out there. The snow can melt or do whatever it wants when the friggin' temps get normal or whatever the he** happens. I'm done pissin' around with the stuff for the year. Have a good day guys, and stay safe.  :coffee:

schools don't usually carry a lot of extra food, and how you gonna deal with kids staying overnite in a school????

just curious???? the back in the day stuff is old news.

I was just sayin, nutball. :moon:  And the food that's ready for the day gets thrown...all of it, as it prepped and ready the day before...and screws up the menus for the rest of the week. My buddy runs the HS lunch programs at the High schools, and he still has to go in and toss all of it, then rearrange and redo menus to do it all over......I just talked to him, he called me from the school.

Because they throw it in the garbage. Another issue. He's required to give them a full meal at school (which the school usually pays for) even if they don't want what's served. So they walk over to the garbage, dump it, and just keep the orange or apple they want. Makes him ballistic, but that's school policy....serve them a meal, they don't haveta eat it if they don't want to. More diversity ass-kissin'. Not all the "diversity'' groups are like that, he said there's one group that is very happy to get the meals.....and very polite and say "thank you"...the ones that are from south of us...  He's been doing this for 30 years, so he's seen it all.

Because our diverse communities deserve better than day-old scraps.  And heaven forbid if anyone could claim that they got sick from un-used cafeteria food, you'd have some ACLU lawyer contacting the school district for a monetary settlement.

The uneaten "scraps" that are leftover from the cafeterias at the hospitals of Mayo and various restaurants in town here are picked up same day by volunteers with coolers and go to the local Salvation army and food shelter to be served as a meal. I've done it.
No monetary settlements seen.

I'm good with that.  I wonder why the schools don't do that too.  Perhaps because although the kids throw away a lot of food, the kitchen in general might have fewer leftovers - and it is more difficult to schedule/rely on food deliveries to area shelters based on school closings.

It's school policy that they cannot save or let the kid pick what they want, according to my buddy it's a state law that they must be served a certain nutritional selected guideline amount. He's the one that's certified in all that stuff and has to initiate it per the guidelines.
He also feels it's just plain ridiculous and a huge waste of food and money from the school budget. They also have to TOSS leftovers, except things like fruit or unopened milk or juice. Anything else goes in the trash.

Morning boys.  Yup JB I had 2 bowls of soup last night just to help our plight.  I see the Forks broke as there are lots of big chunks of ice flowing down the river.  Fun to see.  Still have the big banks that I plowed up so still waiting to get the Grizzly out and pull my 4' drag to break up all of the dog doo.  I use the WD with a bigger drag in the pasture to break up the winters horse fertilizer.  Looks great when I get er done so is fun to do.  Yesterday the UPS guy dropped off my new Weston burger patty maker and some papers. (for the burgers)  I am going to get me a 5 lb chub and make lots of burgers.  Will flash freeze them and then put two per pkg in vac bags.  How fun is that???  Till then I will just sip some more Starbucks decaf that the wife got me.   :azn:

Once they are vac sealed, just throw them in the bath sous vide and cook to perfection.   Give them a very short sear in screaming hot cast iron and ta da you have great burgers cooked just the way you like them.  Oh and they are safe to eat medium rare because the sous vide pasteurizes the meat without cooking it to death.

Afternoon guys, today I assembled the new grill/smoker and tomorrow after work I go pick up my new impala. The casino here has been very very good to me lately so it’s time to put the winnings to good use and stop before the loosing streak hits.   :sleazy: y’all have a good rest of your day and stay safe with the weather y’all are getting.
